Full Job Description

We've partnered with an established and highly regarded law firm that is actively hiring a Senior Trust & Estates Attorney to join and help lead its growing practice in Worcester, Massachusetts. This is more than a traditional lateral attorney opportunity. The firm is looking for an experienced Trust & Estates lawyer who wants to take on a meaningful leadership and succession role within a successful department. The right attorney will have the opportunity to work closely with an established client base, help transition relationships from a retiring attorney, mentor associates, and play an increasingly important role in the continued growth and direction of the department.

What You'll Do

Advise individuals and families on sophisticated estate planning, trusts, probate, and estate administration matters.
Draft and review wills, trusts, estate planning documents and related instruments.
Manage estate and trust administration matters from inception through completion.
Develop and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
Help transition and retain an established client base from a retiring attorney.
Mentor, guide and develop associates within the Trust & Estates practice.
Contribute to the strategic growth and management of the department.
Support business development and client-development initiatives.
Over time, take on increasing responsibility for leading and potentially running the department.
Contribute to the firm's broader objectives through client satisfaction, business development and practice growth.

What We're Looking For

Approximately 15 years of substantive Trusts & Estates experience.
Strong background in estate planning, drafting and estate administration.
Demonstrated ability to manage sophisticated client matters independently.
Strong client relationship and communication skills.
Experience mentoring or guiding junior attorneys is highly desirable.
A demonstrated interest in practice leadership and long-term department growth.
A portable book of business is welcome, but not required.
Willingness to work primarily from the Worcester office, with 1-2 remote days per week available after the initial integration period.

Compensation & Benefits

$160,000-$195,000 base salary, depending on experience and fit.
Merit bonus opportunity; Officers meeting applicable metrics receive a bonus that starts at approximately $20,000 at the lower level.
Additional discretionary bonus based on performance, client satisfaction, business development and practice growth.
1,525 annual billable-hour expectation for Officers.
Health insurance with the firm covering 85% of individual coverage and 65% for other coverage tiers.
Federal holidays plus one floating holiday.
Opportunity to work toward equity partnership for the right long-term attorney; business development, client origination and growth are meaningful factors in future compensation and partnership consideration.
