POSITION SUMMARY
White Birch Educational Services is a women and clinician-owned and operated agency in New Hampshire. We provide support to children through districts with school psychologists, mental health/social workers, board-certified behavior analysts, speech-language pathologists, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other related service providers.
We are currently seeking a full-time Behavior Tutor – FLEX Room Support to join one of our district partners. This role provides behavioral, social-emotional, and academic support to students requiring additional structure and intervention to successfully participate in their educational environment. The ideal candidate is patient, collaborative, and passionate about helping students build self-regulation skills, independence, and positive school experiences.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- The job duties for this role are performed at the assigned work site.
- Provides direct behavioral, social-emotional, and academic support to students receiving FLEX Room services.
- Assists with the implementation of accommodations, modifications, behavior intervention plans, and individualized supports in accordance with student Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Supports students in developing self-regulation, coping, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills.
- Assists students with transitions between classrooms, activities, and educational settings.
- Collects behavioral and progress monitoring data as directed by the student’s educational team.
- Works collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education staff, behavior specialists, related service providers, and administrators to support student success.
- Utilizes proactive behavioral strategies to promote positive student outcomes and minimize disruptions to learning.
- Maintains confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA, district policies, and White Birch Educational Services expectations.
- Participates in required district and White Birch trainings, including behavioral intervention and safety training as assigned.
- May assist students with activities associated with daily living (feeding, hygiene, toileting, mobility, etc.).
- Complies with all departmental policies and procedures, including timekeeping requirements.
- Consistently works the scheduled hours established for the role.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the school district or White Birch Educational Services that are consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
- Experience working with children or adolescents in a school setting.
- Experience supporting students with behavioral, social-emotional, or special education needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and school staff.
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries while building positive relationships with students.
- Ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and respond appropriately during behavior escalations or crisis situations.
- Ability to consistently implement behavior support plans, instructional strategies, schedules, and teacher direction.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
- Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to supporting student growth and success.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Typically works indoors and in classroom environments and may need to work outdoors during physical education activities or during recess.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, move throughout the school environment, and navigate between classrooms and other areas of the building.
- Must be able to see clearly to monitor student activities, read instructions, and observe student needs.
- Must be able to hear and understand spoken instructions, communicate effectively with students and staff, and monitor classroom sounds.
- May assist students with feeding, toileting, hygiene, mobility, and maneuvering throughout the school environment.
- May be required to lift or assist with lifting materials, equipment, or students weighing up to 50 pounds or more depending on the needs of the assignment.
- Must be able to respond appropriately during behavioral crises and participate in approved safety interventions if trained and required.
- May be required to push or pull wheelchairs, carts, adaptive equipment, or other materials.
- May be required to reach overhead, above shoulder height, or horizontally to access supplies or assist students.
