Position Summary
We are seeking a 1st and 2nd SHIFT Blaster/Painter to work out of our Milwaukee Service Center in West Allis, WI. The Blaster/Painter prepares and finishes components through sandblasting and painting operations in support of repair and manufacturing activities. This role removes surface contaminants, applies coatings and finishes, and performs masking and paint preparation to meet quality requirements. The position operates blasting and painting equipment, while following established procedures, safety standards, and work instructions. The Blaster/Painter helps ensure components are properly prepared, coated, and inspected to achieve high-quality, durable finishes.
Essential Duties
- Prepare parts and surfaces for sandblasting and painting.
- Operate sandblasting equipment to clean and restore components.
- Mix and apply paints, coatings, and finishes to meet quality standards.
- Mask and protect areas that do not require blasting or painting.
- Inspect work to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with specifications.
- Perform basic maintenance and upkeep on blasting and painting equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts after training and certification.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper handling of materials and equipment.
- Complete work assignments according to production schedules and quality expectations.
Education and Required Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- 0-2 years related experience, preferably within a service environment in the power generation industry.
- Mechanical aptitude to retain knowledge of sandblasting and painting operations
- Ability to use various hand tools and operate blast equipment, including air tools and grinders
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimal-to-fraction conversions
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and instructions
- Ability to use and interpret basic measuring tools

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, and risk of shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold and wet, humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
