Full Job Description

Position Summary:

Responsible for performing exams, taking ear impressions, fitting, cleaning, adjusting, and ordering hearing aid product and supplies. Performs front desk duties, provides a high level of member service, and maintains our culture, core values, and ethics.

Job Duties/Essential Functions:

● Achieves benchmarks and goals, using methods/strategies that are consistent with the Code of Ethics

● Mentors employees enrolled in the Hearing Aid Apprentice Program (HAAP). Provides mentoring and hands on training that aligns with the HAAP curriculum. Follows Costco’s training guidelines and reviews opportunities and successes with apprentice each week.

● Provides prompt courteous member services and responds to any customer problems. Properly trains customers in caring for their hearing devices, such as intrinsic cleaning and brushing.

● Communicates with members via phone providing general information about the hearing aid department, general troubleshooting guidance, and schedules member appointments

. ● Performs administrative duties consisting of using the office management system to maintain member records and schedule appointments, maintains department inventory, orders supplies, answers phone and returns calls left via voicemail.

● Assists members with scheduling appointments, answering questions about products and services, device evaluation and services as allowed by state law.

● Checks in and stores all daily receivings, including assembling and/or charging member devices for delivery.

● Performs Hearing Aid Dispenser duties consisting of member consultations and exams. Uses equipment within the department to conduct testing and ear impressions in a manner which is safe to the member and consistent with a passing score on the ‘Ear Impression Certification Exam’. Recommends hearing devices, places orders and refers for further care if needed. Uses tooling and equipment to perform fittings, adjustments and cleanings on hearing aid devices.

● Loads, operates cash register, and performs money transactions with customers.

● Follows safety and security procedures, follows PPE requirements, and maintains cleanliness of the department.

● Travels, including some weekends, as business needs require, to assist other hearing aid departments.

● Ensures proper procedures for cleaning and infection control are implemented.

● Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials.

● Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.

Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery:

● Computer, phone, fax, copier, cash register, hand-held scanners, audiometer, probe microphone measurement equipment, manual and video otoscopes, hearing instrument test box, impression gun and/or syringe, hearing aids & accessories, hearing aid modification & maintenance equipment

Non-Essential Functions:

● Assists with front end duties as necessary.

● Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.

Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery

● Cash register, tabletop/handheld scanners, carts, flatbeds, trash compactor, bailer, private vehicle

Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications Required:

● Hearing Aid Dispenser or Audiologist License or Registration as required by state law.

● Costco Ear Impression Certification demonstrating a passing score on written and practical test

● Hazard Communication and JHA (initial assignment), Professionals HIPAA Training (prior to working in department), Costco Hazardous Materials DOT Training Course: Part 1 (within 30 days and then every year), Costco Hazardous Materials DOT Training Course: Part 2 (within 30 days and then every year), Ear Impression Certification: Written & Practical (within 30 days), Audiometric Evaluation & Fitting Protocol Acknowledgement (prior to working in department and then every year), Health Center FCRA (prior to working in department), Hazmat Universal Waste Training- Short Version (within 30 days and then every year), Option STOP Training (within 30 days), any additional certifications or training as required by department.

● Must be current on annual safety training within 30 days of hire.

● Ability to travel by air and/or auto, sometimes with short notice. Recommended:

● High School Diploma or GED preferred.

● Driver’s License preferred.

● Computer, math, and customer service skills preferred.

● Proficiency with AS400, Office Management Other Conditions

● Management will review the Job Analysis for this position prior to a job offer.

Pay: $21.00 - $32.90 per hour
