About Next Level IT

Next Level IT is a growing IT support company (MSP) based in Mobile, AL. We don't just fix computers, we support the people who use them. We handle IT support for businesses, making sure their day to day operations run smoothly. Our team likes solving technical problems and making the client experience better along the way.

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Support Desk Technician who is a natural problem solver and genuinely cares about helping people. In this role, you will be judged on two things: how well you fix the issue, and how good of an experience you give the client while doing it. This role is phone-heavy: how you sound and how you make clients feel on a call matters just as much as solving the technical problem.

Pay: $14 to $21 per hour, based on experience.

The right person can explain what is going on with a computer or network issue without making the client feel talked down to, and can keep them calm and informed the whole time. If you enjoy technology and like helping people feel taken care of, you will do well here.

Most of your day will be spent in the office resolving issues remotely by phone and remote tools, with regular travel to customer locations as needed, mainly around Mobile with occasional trips elsewhere depending on the client. This is an in-office position, not a remote or hybrid role.

What You Will Do:

Troubleshoot: Listen to what the client is dealing with and figure out what is wrong, whether it is hardware, software, or network related. Explain it back in plain terms, no jargon.
Support: Spend most of your day on the phone helping clients work through issues, with remote tools as backup and occasional on-site visits as needed.
Deploy: Install and configure computers, phones, and network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls) at customer sites during visits and new setups.
Advocate: Notice when a client keeps running into the same issue and suggest a real fix instead of a band aid.
Document: Write and update internal and client facing guides and FAQs, and keep accurate records of IT equipment across client sites.
Maintain: Keep client systems updated with the latest security patches and settings.

What We Are Looking For:

Experience: 1 to 3 years setting up and troubleshooting PC/laptop hardware and Windows 10/11 (4+ years a plus).
Phone Skills: Most of your day will be spent on the phone with clients, so a calm, friendly, professional phone presence is essential, not optional.
Attitude: You can stay level headed in stressful situations, even when a client is frustrated.
Communication: You can explain technical stuff to someone who is not technical, without sounding condescending.
Eagerness to Learn: You are interested in picking up new technology and skills over time.
Transportation: Reliable transportation is required for this role. You must also have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel to customer sites regularly, mainly around Mobile with occasional trips elsewhere depending on the client.
Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to 50 lbs (servers, UPS units) and do hands on work like running cables or mounting equipment.

Have experience with any of these? Even better.

Ticketing Systems: Zendesk, ManageEngine, or similar
Microsoft Tools: Office 365 Administration, Windows Server, Active Directory
Networking: Firewall setup (SonicWall, Ubiquiti) and general Ubiquiti equipment experience
Phone Systems: 3CX or other business VoIP platforms
AI Tools: Experience using AI tools for deployment
Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar

Schedule & Benefits:

Schedule: Standard 8 hour day shifts, Monday through Friday.
On Call: Weekly rotation, with additional pay for on-call weeks.
Background Check: Must pass a background check as a condition of employment.
