Pharmacy Technician (Full-Time & Part-Time)

Vel Primus Rx (PillboxModesto) is a concierge long-term care pharmacy. We specialize in partnering with physicians and residential health facilities to offer customized patient care solutions.

Job Overview

Join our team at Vel Primus Rx and become a vital part of a concierge long-term care pharmacy dedicated to exceptional patient care! As a Pharmacy Technician, you'll work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to prepare and dispense prescriptions, manage inventory, and support patients across healthcare facilities, workplaces, and community settings. Beyond traditional pharmacy operations, this role provides meaningful exposure to direct patient care, public health initiatives, and pharmacy-based preventive services. Duties

Pharmacy Operations Support

Prepare, package, and label prescriptions accurately under pharmacist supervision.
Maintain inventory systems, monitor stock levels, and coordinate medication deliveries.
Support medication reconciliation, patient follow-up, and day-to-day pharmacy workflows.
Ensure accurate, compliant documentation in line with HIPAA requirements.
Assist with customized medication services for long-term care and residential clients.

Immunization & Public Health Services

Participate in outreach and communication efforts to support clinic attendance.
Prepare, organize, and transport vaccines, PPE, and required clinical materials.
Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous immunizations within scope and under pharmacist supervision.
Provide professional, service-oriented support to patients and partner organizations.
Assist with evaluating clinic performance and summarizing patient experience feedback.

Clinic & Community Engagement

Support community awareness efforts that promote preventative health and vaccine education.
Prepare and transport supplies for on-site clinics, ensuring compliance with storage and handling standards.
Engage patients and community partners with professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
Complete frequent follow-up and check-in phone calls with patients and healthcare facilities to support continuity of care.
Conduct occasional visits to nursing homes, assisted living communities, and patients' homes as needed to support clinic operations.
Contribute to post-event reporting, feedback tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Team Collaboration

Coordinate with vendors and external partners as needed.
Safeguard PHI/ePHI and comply with HIPAA and applicable privacy, security, safety, and infection control requirements.
Represent Vel Primus Rx professionally when interacting with patients, healthcare providers, clients, and community members.
Protect company property and confidential information.
Treat coworkers, patients, clients, and business partners with professionalism, dignity, and respect.
Respond appropriately to urgent emergencies in accordance with established procedures.
Occasional driving or local travel on company business may be required; employees who drive on company business must meet applicable company and legal requirements.
Comply with company policies and procedures, including workplace safety and infection control practices.
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the position.
Perform other related duties as assigned based on business and operational needs.

Education & Experience

Active Pharmacy Technician License in the State of California (required).
Completion of a Board-approved immunization training program.
Trained in, or open to training in: bloodborne pathogen standards (OSHA and CDC), HIPAA and patient confidentiality, vaccine storage/handling/transport, and CPR/First Aid (current certification preferred).
Experience in community, clinical, or non-retail pharmacy settings preferred.
Reliable transportation with the ability to travel to clinic locations.
Bilingual skills are beneficial.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of CDC immunization guidelines, California pharmacy laws, HIPAA requirements, infection control standards, and bloodborne pathogen protocols.
Proficiency in vaccine preparation, handling, and administration, including IM and subcutaneous injections under pharmacist supervision.
Skilled in EHR platforms, pharmacy management systems, accurate documentation, labeling, and inventory management.
Strong verbal communication, customer service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to educate patients and provide compassionate, culturally responsive care.
Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to travel to on-site clinics, including on short notice.

Environmental Conditions

Work is primarily performed in a pharmacy environment with controlled temperatures, adequate lighting, and routine pharmacy-related activity.
Frequent computer and electronic device use throughout the workday.
Regular interaction with pharmacy staff, nursing facility personnel, caregivers, healthcare providers, and other team members virtually and in-person.
Occasional visits to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or other business locations may be required.
Local travel between work locations may occasionally be required by walking or driving.
Potential exposure to medications, chemicals, and airborne particles may occur; appropriate safety procedures and protective measures must be followed.
Work may involve moderate background noise from pharmacy equipment, telephone communications, and routine team interactions.
The position may include evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities based on operational and patient-care needs.

Physical Demands

Regular standing, walking, sitting, and computer use throughout the workday; occasional stooping, crouching, reaching, and stair use.
Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, labeling, handling medication containers, and operating pharmacy equipment.
Occasional lifting and carrying of medication supplies and inventory weighing up to 25 pounds.
Ability to review medication labels, prescription information, electronic records, and other written materials accurately, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to receive and communicate information through telephone, electronic, and in-person communication methods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is $27.00 per hour.
