Full Job Description

Job Overview

Toste Insurance Services is seeking an experienced, dependable Insurance Customer Service Representative to assist clients with their day-to-day insurance needs and provide support throughout the life of their policies.

This position serves as a primary point of contact for insurance clients. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, comfortable handling a busy workload and able to communicate clearly with clients, carriers and coworkers. This is not simply a phone-answering position. The CSR is responsible for making sure requests are completed accurately, documented properly and followed through to resolution.

General Duties

Assist clients with personal auto, homeowners, renters, umbrella, recreational vehicle and other personal insurance policies.
Answer incoming phone calls, emails and client questions promptly and professionally.
Process policy changes, including vehicle changes, driver changes, address updates, mortgagee changes and coverage adjustments.
Review policy documents, endorsements, renewals, cancellations and billing notices for accuracy.
Explain coverage, deductibles, billing and policy requirements in clear, understandable language.
Obtain information needed to quote or remarket personal lines policies.
Prepare applications, forms, proposals, signatures and supporting documents.
Follow up with clients regarding outstanding information, payments, signatures and underwriting requirements.
Assist clients with billing questions, payment issues, cancellations and reinstatement requirements.
Communicate with insurance carriers, underwriters and company representatives to resolve policy issues.
Identify opportunities to improve coverage or add appropriate policies, such as umbrella, flood or additional vehicle coverage.
Document all client conversations, requests and completed work in HawkSoft.
Attach documents to the correct client file and notify the appropriate team member when action is required.
Maintain accurate activities, follow-ups and suspense items so nothing falls through the cracks.
Work closely with producers, staff and other CSRs to provide consistent service.
Protect confidential client information and follow all agency procedures and insurance regulations.

Qualifications

Previous personal lines insurance experience is strongly preferred.
Active California Property and Casualty insurance license is preferred.
Experience working in an independent insurance agency is a plus.
HawkSoft experience is preferred but not required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
Ability to prioritize multiple requests and meet deadlines.
Comfortable working with insurance carrier websites, email, phone systems and agency-management software.
Able to remain professional and helpful when working with frustrated or confused clients.
Dependable, team-oriented and willing to take ownership of assigned work.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Personal Lines CSR at Toste Insurance Services keeps clients informed, follows through on commitments and makes sure every request reaches a clear resolution. Documentation must be complete, but placing something in HawkSoft is not the same as communicating. The CSR is expected to notify the appropriate person whenever additional action is needed.

The right candidate will be someone who notices details, asks questions when something does not look right and does not assume someone else will handle it.

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
