Full Job Description

New Hope Senior Community is currently seeking an Executive Chef / Dining Services Manager. The Dining Services Manager is responsible for managing the dietary department and cooking. The Director will oversee all aspects of the dining department to include: sanitation, menu design, ordering and inventory management, and budgets as well as hiring, training and supervising of the staff. The Dining Services Manager will also oversee and mentor other cooks.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Preparation and serving of meals to residents and guests.

Hire, train, and supervise dietary staff to ensure proper preparation of food in compliance with policies and to ensure proper storage and handling of food and supplies.

Prepares monthly menus suitable to the dietary needs of the residents. Ensures that the menus are followed and food is ordered, prepared and served in accordance with proper sanitation procedures and standards

Plans, organizes, assists and supervises food service to assist with marketing functions

Works with Activities Director to execute themed resident meals and activities

Ensures that meals are served on schedule, and that there is no more than a fourteen (14) hour span between the end of the evening meal and the beginning of breakfast

Maintains copies of menus, as served for at least three (3) months

Ensures that the food service area and all equipment exceeds sanitation requirements set forth by federal, state, and local health regulations and meets the community standards

Orders all raw food, supplies and equipment through approved vendors and keeps an accurate inventory

Prepares and posts menus in the kitchen and dining room

Provide excellent customer service

Lead resident food committee and implement suggestions
Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance program for dietary equipment with the assistance of the Maintenance Director

Requirements:
Must be ServSafe Certified
3 or more years of notable cooking and management experience in fine dining and/or farm to table
3 or more years reading and cooking recipes from scratch
Must be willing to prepare meals
Must have a working knowledge of ordering, storing, preparation and serving in a food service environment, preferably in senior care
Must understand therapeutic diets and have the ability to prepare
Must possess strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, visitors, staff, and management team
Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
Must have good leadership and supervisory skills
Must have knowledge and understanding of nutritional needs and challenges of senior living residents
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and walk intermittently during the work day
Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis, or at least eight times a shift, with the ability to carry heavy objects up to 20 feet
Must maintain a neat and clean public appearance presentation
