Your role at GEI.

GEI Consultants, Inc., a leading engineering consulting company in the United States, is seeking a highly motivated fall 2026 intern to perform a broad range of engineering duties to support our environmental investigation, remediation, and permitting practices in our Mount Laurel, New Jersey office.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

Candidates will work with engineers, contractors, and clients assisting staff with data collection, management, and review for a wide range of environmental projects.
Describe and classify soil samples.
Soil and groundwater sample collection.
Report daily progress/problems in the field to task supervisor.
Travel to project sites required.
Office support, including preparation of technical memos, reports, construction specifications, and AutoCAD and/or GIS drawings.

Minimum Qualifications

In pursuit of BS or MS in Civil Engineering/ Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER is a plus.
Proven communication, writing, time management, and organization skills.
Ability to work well with project teams.
Ability and willingness to perform field work in inclement weather.
Travel on various field assignments as needed.
Valid USA State driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD software is considered a plus.
Previous experience with soil characterization, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling a plus.
