Purpose:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily accounting functions and assisting with financial reporting and compliance with internal and external financial regulations. This position plays a key role in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, internal audits and recommending cost saving strategies. This role ensures that the Company’s accounting processes align with best practices, GAAP and local, state, and federal tax and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Forecasting – Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, collaborates with the CFO on the preparation of financial forecasts and long-term projections, provides insights and recommendations on financial performance to the leadership team.
Budgeting & Internal Controls – Works with the CFO to prepare and monitor annual budgets, implement, and enforce internal controls over accounting transactions to prevent errors and fraud, recommend improvements to accounting processes to ensure better financial controls and efficiency.
Team Leadership & Management – Oversees a team of accounting staff, including payroll administrator, accounting specialists and accounts payable specialists, responsible for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, billing, and other financial transactions, provides mentorship, training, and development opportunities to team members, ensures timely and accurate completion of all above activities by the accounting team.
Tax Compliance & Legal Adherence – Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal tax laws, including tax filings and reporting, stays updated on changes to regulations and ensure the Company remains compliant with all financial and tax reporting requirements.
Audit & Financial Analysis – Assist with internal audits and work with external auditors to ensure transparency and compliance with accounting standards, perform financial analysis to identify areas for cost savings or improvement in operational efficiency.
Cost Management & Recommendations – Recommends short and long-term strategies to improve cost management and drive profitability, provides financial projections and analysis to support decision making for management and the CFO.
Cash Flow Management – Monitors and manages cash flow to ensure the organization liquidity, works with the CFO to ensure sufficient funds for operations while minimizing excess balances.
Billing & Billing Reconciliation – Oversees billing functions to ensure accuracy and completeness, works with the team to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure compliance with project contracts and agreements.
System Management & Process Improvement – Ensures accounting platform and systems are used, maintained, and updated, continuously identifies, and recommends improvements to accounting processes and systems for greater efficiency and compliance.
Other – Other duties, roles and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial regulations.
Advanced proficiency in accounting software as well as Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal tax laws and compliance requirements.
Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional organizational skills, record keeping, and strong attention to detail, including maintaining accurate records and schedules.
Problem solving and decision-making capabilities in high pressure, time sensitive, geographically diverse locations and situations.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time.
Strong working knowledge of Office 365 including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk and use a computer. Minimal physical exertion is required.
Capacity to lift, carry or transport materials and equipment thirty (30) pounds or more.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
Experience working with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Experience managing payroll, billing, and bonding operations.
Strong understanding of tax compliance and regulations.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Experience working in industrial or manufacturing environments a plus.
