Shoreline Swim School LLC of Connecticut is a rapidly growing company. Our swim program is pioneering the field of water safety and swim skills through our dedication and commitment to our swimmers’ needs. We offer a unique educational experience designed to enhance and promote water safety and introduce various swim strokes. The transformative learning experiences at Shoreline Swim School are designed to help our swimmers grow in and out of the pool. Working with children, offering multiple teaching styles, flexible swim instruction for young boys and girls, toddlers, and communication with their families is paramount to this job.

Job Title: Swim Instructor

Hours: Thursday's 1-7pm (paid hr break), Sunday's 1-7pm (paid hour break), additional hours can be offered.

Reports to: Aquatic Director, Lesson Quality Supervisor and Owner/CEO

Summary: Our Swim Instructors conduct private and semi-private swim lessons to students ages 2 year and up. Lessons focus on water safety, survival skills and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Shoreline Swim School curriculum and methodology.

Requirements:

Lifeguard Certification
Ability to work with children
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
Excellent teaching style
Preferred background in teaching private and semi-private swim lessons
Ability to work independently and manage swim lessons
Ability to take constructive criticism to teaching style and enhance the program
Long term candidates only

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides swim instruction based on the Shoreline Swim School curriculum and methodology.
Evaluates students’ progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills.
Uses problem solving strategies on “tough swimmers.”
Communicate and work together with other Shoreline instructors.
Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents. Makes rescues and administers first aid if necessary.
Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training (Paid) outside of regular working hours.
Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Reports issues to management as appropriate.
Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment. Set up and clean up the pool toys and equipment before and after shifts.
Manages swim lessons independently
Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider is beneficial. Private Swim Instructor Experience is not required but preferred.

Certificates and Licenses: CPR/AED and First-Aid certification required. Lifeguard Certification required.

Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is expected to swim in water temp ranging from 84 degrees- 88 degrees for work shifts and is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate. Bathroom breaks must be taken during scheduled shift breaks.

Pay: $24.00 - $25.00 per hour
