CALIFORNIA SCHOOL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION

Secretary III - San Jose, CA

We are seeking a Secretary for the Member Benefits Department in our headquarters office in San Jose, CA. The Secretary supports the Member Benefits Department and reports to the Director of Member Benefits.

CSEA's Member Benefits Department markets services to CSEA members and staff, including travel, merchandising, sales, and discount programs, and does all the Association’s event planning.

The California School Employees Association represents over 250,000 school employees who work in 750 school districts in California. They provide support services to school children as para-educators, administrators, food service, bus drivers, nurses, and skilled employees in grounds, maintenance and operations. CSEA is the largest classified school employee union in the AFL-CIO. If you are passionate about serving our communities, schools and members, then CSEA may be the place for you!

Examples of duties and responsibilities:

Provide excellent customer service to members and staff
Anticipate needs and prepare materials for Conferences, meetings and events
Process and mail ticket orders for amusement parks and attractions
Maintain and reconcile tickets and CSEA store inventory
Create and maintain databases, reports, and spreadsheets
Provide support at annual conference
Maintain financial records and files
Independently compose correspondence
Maintain office filing and record systems
Maintain effective office procedures and work flow
Assist visitors and telephone callers
Acts as front desk receptionist and greets staff, members, and visitors

Knowledge of:

Event planning

Ability to:

Communicate and write clearly and concisely
Work independently with attention to detail
Understand and relate to people
Show initiative, exercise sound judgment
Handle information with discretion
Be flexible in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Remain calm under pressure
Understand the priorities of the Association

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

Experience emphasizing customer service
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office 365
Ability to work and adapt to a fast paced environment
Flexible, high initiative, attention to detail
Maintains confidentiality

The salary range for Secretary III is $66,528 - $82,417. Starting salaries are typically at the first step on our salary range, although consideration may be given for candidates with exceptional qualifications and experience.
