Revenue Cycle AR Specialist / AR Follow-Up Specialist

As a Revenue Cycle AR Specialist / Follow-Up Specialist, you’ll play a vital role in supporting Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) by ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement for surgical services. You’ll work directly with insurance payers, billing systems, and internal teams to resolve outstanding claims, reduce aging AR, and help ASC clients maintain strong financial performance.

What You’ll Do

Manage and prioritize assigned insurance accounts receivable for Ambulatory Surgery Center clients across multiple specialties.
Proactively follow up on denied, delayed, rejected, or underpaid claims to maximize reimbursement and reduce aging AR.
Investigate and resolve credit balances, including adjustments, refunds, and transfers as appropriate.
Review clearinghouse rejections, correct claim errors, and ensure timely claim resubmission.
Utilize payer portals, clearinghouses, and ASC billing systems to efficiently resolve claim issues.
Prepare and submit corrected claims, appeals, reconsiderations, and supporting documentation according to payer-specific guidelines.
Identify denial trends and recommend process improvements that support cleaner claims and faster reimbursement.
Maintain detailed and accurate account documentation for all follow-up activity.
Assist with AR clean-up projects, aging reduction initiatives, and overall revenue optimization efforts for ASC clients.
Meet productivity and quality goals while contributing to a collaborative, results-driven team environment.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in AR follow-up, medical billing, or revenue cycle management required.
Experience working within an RCM company environment is a plus.
Strong understanding of insurance claims processing, EOBs, denials, and payer guidelines including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
Familiarity with systems such as HST, Vision, SIS Complete, Waystar, and other billing platforms preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and work queues effectively.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication skills with excellent follow-through and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

Billing or coding certifications
Experience with payer portals including Availity, Optum, and Change Healthcare.
Knowledge of ASC-specific billing workflows, surgical claims, and payer reimbursement methodologies.
Passion for process improvement, operational efficiency, and delivering exceptional client support.
