Full Job Description

Insight Exhibits is a full-service exhibit house that provides design and fabrication for the trade show industry, including museum exhibits, corporate conferences/events, pop-up activations, environmental graphics, and customer commercial/residential interiors. We are a local, Salt Lake City-based company, operating under one roof with a 40-year history of creating experiences clients love.

Our CAD Drafters are a critical part of our process and success. They often collaborate with every department at Insight Exhibits and draw production-ready documents that become engineered for the CNC. For these reasons, it is required that our drafters work on-site.

Position Responsibilities

Creates production-ready shop drawings and detailed schematics derived from 3D renderings, layouts, etc.
Utilizes CAD software to prepare production drawings.
Coordinates and consults with production staff, project managers, and designers to complete projects.
Reviews drawings and ensures accuracy, makes necessary redlines and adjustments.
Creates drawings in a timely manner and attends work-order meetings.
Maintains up-to-date and relevant knowledge of CAD software and industry-related standards.
Reports to a manager or head of a department.
Willingness to work regular overtime hours to meet project deadlines.

Position Qualifications

Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Previous drafting experience.
Knowledge of various fabrication methods and construction.
Problem-solving skills, creativity, and a willingness to learn.
Ability to maintain a professional disposition and atmosphere as to show respect for clients, colleagues, vendors, and fellow employees.
Flexibility to changing priorities (our projects are dynamic, this is a fast-moving industry).

Position Preferences

Degree in architectural drafting and technology, or similar degree/certification.
Knowledge of other software applications such as Adobe Suite.

We work in a relaxed environment with flexible dress. We eat a lot of donuts and have the occasional office dog(s). The exhibit industry gives the opportunity to work on a variety of projects.
