Pay: $21–$23 per hour + tips
Job Type: Part-time
Expected Hours: Approximately 15–25 hours per week
Typical Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, approximately 10:45 AM–2:15 PM
Job Summary
We are looking for a dependable, skilled, and team-oriented Cake Decorator / Opening Team Member to join our Baskin-Robbins team.
This is a hybrid position that combines cake decorating, dessert production, opening responsibilities, customer service, and team support.
This is not a back-of-house-only cake decorating position. The person in this role will help oversee cake and dessert production while also opening the store, assisting customers, completing normal store responsibilities, and helping train other team members in cake building, frosting, and basic decorating techniques.
Responsibilities
- Decorate ice cream cakes and other dessert items according to Baskin-Robbins standards
- Complete custom cake orders accurately and on time
- Perform cake writing, borders, piping, and other decorating techniques
- Help oversee cake building, frosting, decorating, and production needs
- Review upcoming cake orders and production priorities
- Verify customer cake orders are complete and ready for pickup
- Maintain adequate cake backstock and ready-to-sell inventory
- Keep the dessert display case stocked and well merchandised
- Monitor cake inventory and shelf life
- Maintain decorating supplies, cake boxes, boards, icing, piping bags, tips, and related materials
- Keep the cake production area clean, organized, and properly stocked
- Train designated team members in cake building, frosting, preparation, and basic decorating techniques
- Open the store and complete assigned opening procedures
- Greet and assist customers
- Operate the POS system
- Scoop ice cream and prepare standard Baskin-Robbins menu items
- Assist customers placing or picking up cake orders
- Restock, clean, and support the rest of the team as needed
The Baskin-Robbins dessert manual specifically treats cake production as a broader operating responsibility that includes production, display, inventory, training, and customer service—not decorating alone.
Qualifications
- Previous cake decorating experience preferred
- Strong cake writing, piping, and border skills preferred
- Ice cream cake experience is a plus, but not required
- Able to produce clean, consistent, and visually appealing cakes
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable opening the store and working independently
- Friendly and professional with customers
- Willing to work both in cake production and front-counter operations
- Willing and able to train other team members
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Team-oriented attitude
- Available Tuesday through Saturday mornings
- Weekend and holiday availability preferred
Compensation
$21–$23 per hour + tips, depending on experience and demonstrated decorating skill.
Recent team tips have averaged approximately $5+ per hour, although tips vary and are not guaranteed.
