Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator / CDL Class A Driver.
We are a small but growing, non-union excavation and grading company looking for an experienced, dependable Heavy Equipment Operator with a valid California CDL Class A to join our team. As our company continues to grow, we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us and take pride in producing high-quality work.
We specialize in grading, excavation, trenching, horse property construction, arena construction, de-rocking, and site development throughout Southern California.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, works safely, thinks ahead, and can operate equipment efficiently with minimal supervision.
Pay $30.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience, skill level, productivity, and overall qualifications.
Schedule - Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed. - The workday generally begins around 7:00 a.m. and ends when the day's work is completed. - Start and finish times vary depending on project location, weather, workload, and job requirements.
- Applicants should be flexible and willing to work overtime when necessary to complete projects safely and efficiently.
Required Experience Applicants must have previous experience operating heavy equipment and must be able to demonstrate their abilities during a practical equipment evaluation before being hired. Experience must include actual earthmoving and grading work.
Experience operating forklifts, skip loaders in a yard, warehouse equipment, or similar equipment does not qualify unless it also includes professional experience performing excavation, grading, trenching, and moving dirt on construction or earthwork projects.
Qualified applicants should have experience with:
- Excavator operation.
- Skid steer operation.
- Fine grading and finish grading.
- Rough grading and site preparation.
- Utility trenching.
- Loading, unloading, and transporting heavy equipment.
- Reading grade stakes and working with laser levels (preferred).
- Experience with horse property construction, arena construction, de-rocking, or agricultural work is a plus.
Applicants who cannot safely and efficiently demonstrate these skills during an equipment evaluation will not be considered.
CDL Requirements
- Valid California CDL Class A (required).
- Clean driving record preferred.
- Experience hauling heavy equipment with gooseneck and equipment trailers.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, load securement, and daily vehicle inspections.
- Ability to complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate excavators, skid steers, tractors, rollers, and other heavy equipment.
- Perform excavation, grading, finish grading, trenching, site preparation, and earthmoving.
- Load, unload, transport, and properly secure heavy equipment.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
- Work safely around underground utilities, buildings, livestock, customers, and other contractors.
- Assist with general labor when equipment operation is not required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
- Represent the company professionally with customers and coworkers.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Projects are located throughout Southern California, so applicants must be willing and able to travel to different job sites as needed.
