The Industrial Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in keeping AGS Company Automotive Solutions’ Hoyt manufacturing facility and Norton Shores Distribution Center running safely, reliably, and efficiently. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this hands-on role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and responding to equipment issues that impact production. The Maintenance Technician partners closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Safety to minimize downtime, extend equipment life, and support continuous improvement across the plant floor. This role requires strong technical skills, a proactive mindset, and a firm commitment to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all production equipment, tooling, and facility systems

Execute PM tasks according to established schedules to minimize the risk of equipment failure and maximize equipment lifespan

Identify recurring failure patterns and recommend adjustments to PM schedules and procedures

Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work orders, parts usage, and time tracking, to support compliance and asset history
Troubleshooting & Repair

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing issues across production and facility systems

Perform timely corrective repairs to minimize downtime and restore equipment to full operating condition

Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and system failures, including on-call situations as needed

Escalate complex issues appropriately and partner with vendors, contractors, and engineering resources when specialized support is required
Installations & Facility Support

Assist with the installation, relocation, and commissioning of new plant equipment

Support facility improvement projects, including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical modifications

Fabricate, modify, or repair components and fixtures as needed to support production

Support the facility’s environmental and sustainability practices
Safety & Compliance

Ensure all tools, machinery, and work practices meet safety standards; report concerns and near-misses promptly

Follow lockout/tagout, PPE, and other safety procedures without exception

Support OSHA compliance and internal safety audits

Maintain accurate documentation to support regulatory and internal compliance requirements
Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, equipment reliability, and overall plant efficiency

Implement best practices and innovative solutions that enhance uptime and reduce cost

Qualifications & Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or trade certification preferred
-
5+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance operations required
-
Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems required

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals required
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with ERP or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) required

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Willingness to be available for on-call emergency response

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Commitment to upholding AGS values and promoting a positive, safety-first work culture

MIG/TIG welding and basic fabrication skills preferred

State of Michigan electrical journeyman license preferred
Physical Requirements

Required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the shift

Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and heavier items with assistance

Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and around moving equipment

Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment requiring dexterity and hand-eye coordination

Continuous mental and visual attention to safety, equipment condition, and work quality

Salary & Bonus
Base Pay Range: $28.50–$34.50 per hour (Range is based on experience, skills, and role alignment within the organization.)
Bonus Eligibility: Eligible for a performance-based bonus of 4%–10% of base annual salary, based on individual, team, and company performance.
