Evening Kitchen Manager — MudPenny Spring Lake

Pay: $22–$25/hour
Schedule: Full-time

MudPenny Spring Lake is seeking a Kitchen Manager who can confidently lead a high-volume kitchen across both brunch and dinner operations. This role is hands-on, team-focused, and responsible for the full scope of back-of-house leadership—staff development, ordering, inventory, budgets, quality control, and high-volume execution.

What You’ll Do - Leadership & Team Development

Lead, coach, and mentor the kitchen team with a people-first mindset.
Recognize great work and foster a culture of accountability, consistency, and positivity.
Hire, onboard, schedule, develop, and—when necessary—participate in discipline or termination decisions.
Run effective BOH pre-shifts and kitchen meetings.
Model MudPenny’s core values: neighborly, excellence, solution-driven, grit, embrace growth.
Partner with leadership on menu development, recipe rollouts, training programs, and kitchen standards.

High-Volume Kitchen Operations

Manage daily BOH operations for dinner service.
Confidently handle high ticket counts, large parties, and event production.
Work the line during peak periods—this is not a clipboard role.
Maintain consistent food quality, cleanliness, and speed across all dayparts.
Ensure well-prepped, organized stations that are ready for service every day.

Inventory, Ordering & Budget Management

Oversee ordering, vendor management, and weekly inventory counts.
Maintain proper par levels for both dine-in service and events.
Work within established food cost and labor budgets.
Use xtraCHEF (or learn quickly) for recipe costing, invoice management, and inventory accuracy.
Reduce waste through smart prep systems, thoughtful ordering, and proper rotation.

Catering & Event Production

Plan and execute prep for large on-site and off-site events.
Coordinate with FOH and Catering Leads to ensure smooth, timely execution.
Produce consistent, scalable food for large groups and special events.

Who You Are

You have 2+ years managing a high-volume kitchen with both brunch and dinner service experience.
Strong line cook skills and ability to lead from the line.
Confident overseeing large parties, complex tickets, and event production.
Effective communicator with the ability to motivate and coach a team.
Organized, proactive, and solution-driven—even on busy days.
Comfortable with hiring, scheduling, training, and holding staff accountable.
Familiar with TOAST and inventory systems; xtraCHEF experience is a plus.
