Full Job Description

Job Summary:

Delivers evidence-based education and support to schools, communities, and organizations to prevent substance use and promote mental and behavioral health.

Job Duties:

Plans and implements school and community-based strategies by collaborating with colleagues, professionals, and local organizations to enhance prevention efforts.
Provides accurate, culturally relevant information to encourage healthy lifestyles and reduce risk.
Applies disease and harm reduction models, integrates current research, and adapts proven strategies to meet evolving community needs.
Coordinates and maintains a caseload of prevention initiatives across designated areas, ensuring timely documentation and monthly reporting of program activities.
Conducts assessments through interviews, focus groups, environmental scans, and surveys; analyzes archival data and submit quarterly findings to leadership.
Builds partnerships with tribal, state, and local agencies to strengthen prevention networks and resource sharing.
Stays current with prevention theory and research by participating in professional development and applying evidence-based models to program design.
Tailors educational content and skill-building activities to meet the needs and readiness levels of target audiences.
Ensures fidelity to evidence-based programs by implementing them as designed or making approved adaptations that preserve effectiveness.
Evaluates program outcomes using validated tools; refine strategies based on findings and report results to supervisors.
Promotes prevention advocacy through public awareness campaigns that support healthier norms and policies.
Assists with grant applications and reporting, including submissions to the Tribal Institutional Review Board.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

Performs work under direct supervision.
Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field of study; no substitutions.
An additional one (1) year of experience with working in communities or a related field.

Ability to build collaborative relationships.
Interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance. The employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) within sixty (60) days of hire and maintain throughout employment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
