CNC Stone Cutter / CNC Programmer - High-End Stone
Fabrication
Company: A Cut Above Job Type: Full-Time Compensation: $65,000-$85,000 annually
Work Location: In Person
Job Description
A Cut Above is growing, and we are looking for an exceptional CNC Stone Cutter / CNC Programmer who wants
to help us raise the standard for custom stone fabrication.
This is not another generic machine operator position. At A Cut Above, we view this role as a craftsmanship +
technology + growth opportunity for a highly skilled professional who wants to become an important part of an
expanding fabrication operation.
We are seeking an experienced stone professional who understands the combination of technology, precision,
craftsmanship, and problem-solving required to turn premium slabs into exceptional finished work.
Our projects extend beyond standard countertops. We work with premium stone and surfacing materials to produce
custom kitchens, waterfall islands, fireplaces, bathroom vanities, integrated and custom stone sinks, shower
components, feature walls, outdoor kitchens, commercial surfaces, and one-of-a-kind architectural pieces.
The right candidate understands that an expensive slab of quartzite, marble, or porcelain cannot simply be cut. Veining,
layout, seams, finished dimensions, tooling, material characteristics, and the final installation all have to be considered
before the machine starts.
We want someone who thinks like a fabricator and craftsman while operating like a CNC professional.
Responsibilities
● Set up, program, operate, and monitor CNC stone fabrication equipment.
● Cut and machine granite, marble, quartzite, quartz, porcelain, sintered stone, and other premium materials.
● Interpret CAD/CAM files, digital templates, shop drawings, production tickets, and project specifications.
● Produce precision components for countertops, islands, fireplaces, vanities, showers, custom sinks, wall applications,
and architectural stone features.
● Execute sink and cooktop cutouts, faucet holes, edge profiles, miters, radiuses, and other custom fabrication details.
● Review every project before cutting to identify potential dimensional, layout, seam, vein, or fabrication issues.
● Optimize slab layouts to improve yield and minimize material waste.
● Understand vein direction, bookmatching, seam placement, and visual continuity on high-end projects.
● Verify dimensions and machine paths before fabrication begins.
● Select and manage appropriate tooling, machine settings, and cutting strategies for different materials and
applications.
● Monitor cutting and machining operations for accuracy and finished quality.
● Inspect completed pieces against drawings, templates, and specifications.
● Troubleshoot CNC programming, tooling, and machine-operation issues.
● Perform routine machine inspections, cleaning, calibration, and preventative maintenance.
● Identify opportunities to improve production speed and workflow without compromising quality.
● Coordinate closely with templating, fabrication, polishing, installation, and production teams.
● Help prevent re-cuts, material damage, fabrication errors, and unnecessary downtime.
● Maintain a clean, organized, efficient, and safety-focused production environment.
Qualifications
● Professional CNC stone fabrication experience strongly preferred.
● Experience working with granite, marble, quartzite, quartz, porcelain, sintered materials, or similar premium surfaces.
● Experience programming and/or operating CNC stone machinery, SawJet, waterjet, bridge saw, 5-axis equipment, or
comparable fabrication technology.
● Knowledge of CAD/CAM and CNC programming workflows.
● Ability to accurately interpret digital templates, shop drawings, measurements, and fabrication specifications.
● Understanding of stone tooling, cutting techniques, fabrication processes, and material characteristics.
● Strong understanding of dimensional accuracy and quality control.
● Ability to troubleshoot machine, tooling, and programming issues.
● Excellent spatial awareness and attention to detail.
● Ability to work independently and make sound production decisions.
● Strong mechanical aptitude.
● Reliable, organized, safety-conscious, and accountable.
● Comfortable operating in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
● Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Candidate
We are not simply looking for someone who can press "start" on a CNC machine. We want someone who owns
the cut.
The ideal candidate looks at the slab, digital file, seams, finished dimensions, and intended installation before fabrication
begins. They understand the difference between producing a standard countertop and fabricating a sophisticated custom
stone project where every vein, edge, seam, miter, opening, and finished dimension matters.
You catch problems before they become expensive mistakes. You know how to balance speed with precision and
production volume with craftsmanship. You can program, troubleshoot, optimize slab layouts, handle sophisticated
custom fabrication, and operate with minimal supervision.
You take pride in seeing a raw slab transformed into a finished kitchen, custom fireplace, integrated stone sink, luxury
bathroom, or architectural feature and knowing that your work made it possible.
Most importantly, you want to become part of a company that is growing aggressively and investing in its people,
technology, equipment, fabrication capabilities, and exceptional work.
Compensation & Benefits
● Annual Salary: $65,000-$85,000, based on experience and technical capabilities.
● The upper end of the compensation range is reserved for highly experienced professionals who can independently
program CNC equipment, troubleshoot issues, optimize material layouts, execute sophisticated custom work, and
operate with minimal supervision.
● Additional earning potential for exceptional performance and production.
● Overtime opportunities based on production needs.
● Professional development and advanced equipment training.
● Long-term career growth opportunities.
● Opportunity for advancement as our fabrication operation expands.
● Work with premium natural and engineered stone materials.
● Exposure to complex residential, commercial, and architectural projects.
● Modern fabrication technology and equipment.
● Supportive, performance-driven team environment.
Highly experienced CNC programmers/operators with advanced stone-fabrication capabilities are encouraged
to apply even if their compensation expectations exceed the posted range.
