Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Ranch Maintenance & Grounds Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day maintenance, landscaping, and overall appearance of a private ranch in Napa.
This is not an office position. We are looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining a beautiful property and has experience working on private ranches, wineries, vineyards, or similar large estates. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable troubleshooting a plumbing repair, operating a tractor, pruning trees, maintaining irrigation systems, and ensuring the grounds are kept to a high standard.
The successful candidate will work closely with management, landscape consultants, and a team of gardeners and ranch laborers to maintain the property to the highest standards. This individual will lead by example, assisting with daily tasks while coordinating and working alongside the team.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the overall appearance and functionality of the ranch.
- Perform general property maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnose and complete basic plumbing, irrigation, carpentry, painting, and general handyman repairs.
- Operate and maintain tractors, mowers, UTVs, and other ranch equipment safely.
- Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, gardens, and landscaped areas to a high standard.
- Perform pruning, planting, fertilizing, weed control, and seasonal landscape maintenance.
- Implement planting and landscape improvement plans developed by landscape consultants.
- Monitor irrigation systems and make necessary repairs and adjustments.
- Keep equipment, tools, and maintenance areas organized and in good working condition.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as needed.
- Identify maintenance issues proactively and recommend improvements.
- Assist with occasional ranch projects and other duties as assigned.
Work collaboratively with gardeners, ranch laborers, and outside contractors to complete daily and seasonal projects.
- Provide direction and hands-on support to grounds staff, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Prioritize daily tasks and coordinate work assignments with management.
- Lead by example by actively participating in landscaping, maintenance, and ranch improvement projects.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience maintaining a private ranch, winery, vineyard, estate, or similar property.
- Strong knowledge of landscaping, irrigation systems, and plant care.
- Experience with plumbing, general maintenance, and property repairs.
- Ability to operate tractors, skid steers, mowers, and other equipment.
- Comfortable using power and hand tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and dependable.
- Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on high-end residential properties, wineries, or vineyards.
- Knowledge of California-native and drought-tolerant landscaping.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift up to 80 lbs.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Walk, bend, climb ladders, kneel, and operate equipment throughout the day.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
