At Penning Landscapes, we're the trusted name behind Napa's finest luxury estate landscapes, and we're looking for a Design Build Operations Manager to support our Design + Build department.

About the Role
You'll support our Design + Build team in delivering every project safely, profitably, and to a high standard — from signed contract through installation. That means supporting our Designer on the creative and client side, and supporting our Install Project Manager on the production side, so nothing falls through the cracks in between.
Supporting Design & Client Relations
You'll build enough fluency in our design philosophy, materials, and process to speak credibly with clients and help the Designer close the sale — attending client meetings, helping present proposals, and joining site walks to verify scope and quality. You'll be a steady, responsive presence for clients throughout their project, and follow up after each job for referrals, reviews, and the next opportunity.
Supporting Production & Team
You'll work alongside the Install PM on scheduling and execution, help monitor the project backlog, and coordinate with Design, Estimating, Procurement, and Maintenance for a seamless handoff at every stage. You'll hold weekly one-on-ones and team meetings, be present in the field to support quality and safety, and help develop the next generation of talent on the team.
Financial & Operational
You'll track Estimated vs. Actual costs on every job, take part in monthly financial reviews, and help identify process improvements that make the department more efficient and profitable.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of landscape design and construction experience, including project management and team leadership
- Comfortable in front of high-end residential clients — able to build trust quickly and support a sale without being the department's primary closer
- Strong financial and operational discipline: proven ability to manage Estimated vs. Actual performance, budgets, and change orders
- Proven track record managing design-build teams and high-end residential landscape projects; bilingual preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Aspire, design software, and project management software
- Valid driver's license; strong knowledge of plants, landscape construction, and irrigation
- Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, construction management, civil engineering, or related field preferred

Pay: $130,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
