Full Job Description

K-Pop & K-Beauty Retail Associate – New Store Opening

Choc Choc is opening a new K-Pop and K-Beauty hybrid store at Fox Valley Mall in Aurora, Illinois. We are looking for a friendly, dependable, and creative retail associate who already has strong foundational knowledge of K-Pop and is genuinely interested in Korean skincare and beauty.

This is a part-time position expected to begin in late August 2026. Selected team members may also help set up the new store before opening. This may include receiving merchandise, stocking and labeling products, organizing albums and merchandise, and creating displays.

This position may offer additional hours or the opportunity to transition to full-time based on performance, availability, and business needs.

What You’ll Do

Welcome customers and create a friendly, inclusive shopping experience
Answer questions about K-Pop groups, artists, albums, album versions, inclusions, light sticks, character merchandise, and new releases
Stay informed about current comebacks, popular groups, fandom trends, and in-demand products
Track customer requests and provide input on albums and merchandise the store should consider carrying
Receive shipments, check merchandise, organize inventory, and restock products
Learn our Korean skincare curriculum and recommend products based on customers’ skin types, concerns, routines, and ingredients
Provide knowledgeable and honest recommendations without using high-pressure sales tactics
Operate the point-of-sale system and handle cash accurately
Create and maintain attractive K-Pop and K-Beauty displays
Help create short-form social media content, including unboxings, new-arrival videos, product highlights, sales promotions, TikToks, and Instagram Reels
Sanitize testers, wipe down shelves, break down boxes, and keep the store clean and organized
Assist with pre-opening store setup in late August

Required Qualifications

Strong foundational knowledge of K-Pop and genuine interest in the industry
Familiarity with current groups, popular artists, comebacks, album versions, fandoms, and common types of K-Pop merchandise
Ability to confidently answer basic K-Pop customer questions and accurately research unfamiliar information when needed
Genuine interest in Korean skincare, makeup, or beauty products
Willingness to complete our skincare and ingredient training
Comfortable approaching customers and starting helpful conversations
Friendly, dependable, organized, and able to work independently
Strong attention to detail when handling inventory, album versions, prices, and purchases
Previous retail, customer service, point-of-sale, or cash-handling experience
Availability to work some evenings, weekends, and mall retail hours
Ability to safely receive, move, unpack, and stock typical retail shipment boxes

Preferred Qualifications

Experience selling K-Pop merchandise, albums, beauty products, or other specialty retail products
Knowledge of Korean skincare ingredients, routines, skin types, or current K-Beauty trends
Experience using Canva, CapCut, TikTok, or Instagram Reels
Ability to film and edit engaging short-form videos
Experience with merchandising, inventory, product ordering, or visual displays
Familiarity with both established and newly trending K-Pop groups
Previous experience helping organize or open a retail store

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone customers can comfortably approach with questions about both K-Pop and skincare. You do not need to know every skincare ingredient before starting because we provide training. However, applicants should already have solid K-Pop knowledge and be willing to continuously follow new releases, merchandise, and fandom trends.

This is not a high-pressure sales position. Our goal is to provide helpful, honest recommendations and create a welcoming store where customers can discover products they genuinely enjoy.
