The Senior Mechanical Engineer serves as a senior technical leader responsible for mechanical design, Revit-based production, QA/QC, project coordination, construction administration, and staff mentorship.
This role requires strong HVAC design experience, advanced Revit proficiency, and the ability to produce fully coordinated mechanical designs with limited oversight. In this role, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will also serve as the mechanical discipline lead for assigned projects and may act as project manager for select small to mid-sized projects and will coordinate effectively with architects, contractors, consultants, clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical engineering design and documentation for assigned projects.
- Design HVAC, ventilation, exhaust, and related building systems.
- Develop and coordinate Revit-based construction documents and MEP models.
- Prepare engineering calculations, equipment specifications, and design narratives.
- Serve as project manager for select small to mid-size projects.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, vendors, and clients throughout project delivery.
- Conduct site visits, field investigations, and existing condition assessments.
- Prepare field reports and construction-related documentation.
- Review submittals, shop drawings, and respond to RFIs.
- Manage multiple projects, schedules, and deliverables simultaneously.
- Provide technical mentorship, quality control review, and support to design staff.
- Apply applicable building codes, industry standards, and engineering best practices to mechanical system design and documentation.
- Additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the team.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced proficiency in Revit for MEP design, coordination, documentation, and drawing production.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ventilation systems, exhaust systems, equipment selection, mechanical specifications, and applicable building codes.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC load calculations, ventilation calculations, and industry standards related to mechanical system design.
- Ability to prepare engineering calculations, equipment specifications, and develop MEP design narratives.
- Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, shop drawings, submittals, and construction documents.
- Ability to conduct site visits, document existing conditions, and prepare field reports.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and coordination responsibilities simultaneously.
- Strong project management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively communicate technical information to clients, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida or ability to obtain Florida PE license within 3 months of hire date through NCEES record.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional mechanical engineering experience, including building systems design.
- Experience serving as project manager on small to mid-size projects.
- Experience with HVAC design and Revit-based MEP production.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
- Ability to perform construction site visits, including standing and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs at time.
- Ability to travel locally and nationally to project sites and client locations approximately 10-20% of the time.
Pay: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
