Position Overview:
This classification performs technical accounting and clerical duties for both Court and non-court functions. This classification requires the ability to work independently in a remote satellite office carrying out designated functions of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. Work is performed under the general supervision of a remote Accounting Supervisor and involves significant customer contact, public information, and the ability to work independently.
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Accepts and processes payments for criminal fines and traffic citations.

Issues marriage licenses and driving record printouts. Accepts documents to be recorded and filed and passport applications.

Performs cashiering functions in accepting and receipting payments for a variety of fees, fines, and charges. Balance daily receipts to monies and credit card payments received.

Assists customers in processing legal documents, reviewing public records and other property related research.

Gives information and answers questions, helping the public process forms, relating to Clerk processes.

Process court documents in accordance with established procedures and legal requirements.

Provides the public information on the services and programs of the Clerk’s Office.

Types and files pleadings, correspondence, documents, and other documents as required.

Process incoming and outgoing mail.

Answer inquiries and resolve complaints in person and/or over the telephone.

Other duties as assigned.

Additional Functions:

In the event of a declared state of emergency, employees in this classification may be called to work during days or hours other than those for which they are regularly scheduled.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
-
High school diploma or GED equivalent and one year of clerical experience in the court environment including significant public contact; bilingual ability is desirable.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
-
Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Must be able to be certified to handle passports.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Florida Statutes, Department of Revenue Rules pertinent to area(s) of assignment.

Legal documents recorded, recording requirements, and Indexing rules.

Office procedures, methods, and equipment.

Cashiering operations, collection documentation and procedures.

Clerk’s programs, functions, departments, and services to appropriately respond to service requests.

Clerk record keeping systems, practices, and procedures.

US Department of State guidelines for Passport Acceptance.

A Public record includes information that is recorded and stored by a government agency, which a member of the public has a right to access and review. Records can be in tangible forms, such as paper, photographs, and maps, or stored on electronic media, such as CDs, DVDs, and computer databases. On occasion, your picture may be taken and used in agency publications, or your records may be requested for review. All government records are public unless you are, or the record is exempt by Florida Statute Chapter 119.0713.
ADA Compliance:
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of lightweight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
