Full Job Description

Summary/Objective:
The Event Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing regional marketing and promotional initiatives that support Watermill Express' business objectives. This position independently manages events and community outreach efforts, evaluates marketing effectiveness, recommends process improvements, and serves as the company's representative throughout assigned markets. This role requires the exercise of independent judgment and discretion in coordinating resources, resolving operational issues, and making decisions that directly impact customer engagement and brand awareness.

Watermill Express is seeking an outgoing, organized Event Specialist to manage and personally staff our promotional events. You will be the face of the company, engaging with customers within our network of 19 markets in 8 states. This role involves frequent travel, especially on weekends.

This is a salary position paid $55,000 per year.

Essential Functions:

Plan, coordinate, and execute promotional events and marketing initiatives aligned with company objectives across several markets.
Develop event execution plans, including scheduling, logistics, staffing recommendations, equipment requirements, and contingency planning.
Evaluate event opportunities and recommend participation based on anticipated business impact, customer demographics, and strategic priorities.
Independently manage events while exercising judgment to adapt plans based on changing conditions, customer traffic, weather, venue requirements, or operational challenges.
Serve as the primary company representative during promotional events, building relationships with customers, community organizations, vendors, and event partners.
Deliver product demonstrations and educate prospective customers regarding Watermill Express products and services.
Resolve customer concerns and operational issues during events using sound judgment and established company guidelines.
Analyze event performance, customer engagement, and promotional effectiveness, preparing reports that include recommendations for future marketing strategies and operational improvements.
Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, and other departments to improve promotional programs and ensure alignment with company initiatives.
Identify opportunities to strengthen community partnerships and increase brand visibility within assigned territories.
Coordinate travel schedules, event calendars, inventory needs, and promotional resources to maximize operational efficiency.
Oversee the preparation, transportation, and organization of promotional materials necessary for successful event execution.
Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards.
Travel extensively throughout surrounding markets (approximately 35–40 weekends annually).
Work schedule demands during event weeks will primarily consist of a Thursday through Monday schedule.
Perform administrative responsibilities from a home office or local Watermill Express office when not traveling, including planning, reporting, vendor communication, scheduling, and project coordination.
Determining event execution strategies based on location-specific conditions.
Follow safety guidelines and act in a safe manner.
All other duties assigned.
Significant travel throughout surrounding markets, including out of state travel, approximately 35-40 weekends per year
Typical schedule Thursday-Monday during event weeks, must be able to work all 4 days during event weekends.
When not traveling or working events, the Event Specialist may work from home or from the local Watermill Express Office.
Follow safety guidelines and act in a safe manner.
All other duties assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Public speaking or field marketing experience
Experience hauling and loading trailers or similar equipment
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and generate creative ideas to engage customers
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally via email
Team player with a positive, customer-focused attitude
Comfortable working outdoors in any condition and standing on your feet most of the day
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Bilingual preferred

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift-up to 50lbs and perform physical tasks related to event setup

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 1 year of event marketing experience
