Job Description

Position Title: Curtain Manufacturer

Reports to: Project Managers, Director of Projects, Executive Management Team,

Home Office: Houston, TX

Oversees: Future Sewing Assistants

Duties:

· Works from design drawings, sketches, specification sheets and verbal directions to cut, sew and finish theatrical/custom curtains, scenery drops and custom projects to specific tolerances with minimum supervision of individual project work.

· Job requires the handling of fabric on rolls and/or bolts that can weigh up to 150 lbs. (over 50 lbs. handled by two people)

· Working from instructions fabric must be measured, cut, and sewn on industrial sewing machines. Top finishing is required, consisting of the installation of grommets and rivets utilizing hand tools. Finished product is then tagged and placed in protective bags for the customer.

· Creates curtain build sheets and forecasts approximate time and materials needed for jobs.

· Works with the project team in ordering fabric and supplies for jobs in a timely manner.

· Jobs may require working over 40 hours a week and include weekends.

· Assist and answer questions from MTS Personnel about curtains and fabrics.

· Maintain sewing room inventory and order supplies when needed.

· Shop cleaning as required.

Skills required:

Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Occasionally using algebra.

Use of basic measurements (including metric) and measurement tools, including tape measure and yardsticks.

Previous experience in the operation of industrial sewing machines is required.
