Full Job Description

ASME Pipe Welder

Vessel & Piping Fabrication | Shop-Based Position

We are seeking an experienced ASME Pipe Welder to join a fabrication team specializing in pressure vessels, piping systems, and industrial components. This is a shop-based position requiring strong welding skills, the ability to work from fabrication drawings, and experience working within an ASME code environment. Candidates should be comfortable welding various materials and producing consistent, high-quality welds to established procedures and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Weld pipe, fittings, vessel components, and related assemblies in accordance with ASME code requirements and approved WPS procedures
Perform MIG (GMAW) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) on pipe and fabricated components
Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, piping isometrics, and fabrication drawings
Set up welding machines, fixtures, and equipment according to job specifications
Perform material preparation including cleaning, beveling, grinding, and proper joint fit-up
Maintain proper welding parameters and follow established welding procedures
Visually inspect completed welds for quality, consistency, and compliance with specifications
Work closely with fitters, welders, supervisors, and quality personnel to keep projects on schedule
Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-conscious work area

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of pipe or vessel welding experience in an ASME code fabrication environment
Experience welding pipe and/or pressure vessel components
Proficiency with MIG (GMAW) and FCAW
Strong blueprint, weld symbol, and piping isometric reading skills
Ability to follow WPS requirements and maintain consistent welding parameters
Ability to perform proper joint preparation and fit-up
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to pass a 6G MIG and FCAW weld test
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team
Working knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, joint preparation, and welding parameters
