Household + Studio Assistant
Milford, CT | Hourly | 20-30 Hours/Week | Local Candidates Only
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a busy family of five and need support both at home and within our family business. Both locations are in Milford CT.
We are looking for a reliable, self-directed local assistant to keep the household running smoothly while also supporting day-to-day studio administrative tasks. This is a hands-on, on-the-ground role -- you will be managing the home, prepping meals, staying on top of weekly and monthly tasks (vacuuming out the car, ensuring the fridge is clean, laundry etc) as well as supporting the business.
Expect your time to break down roughly as follows (but may fluctuate based on need that week) : 60% at home, 20% in the car (picking up groceries, completing returns, delivering something to a client’s home), 20% at the studio.
If you need a task list for every single thing or cannot figure out how to combine three errands into one trip, this is not the right fit. If you are already thinking about that -- keep reading.
We envision this role being 8:30 am - 1:30 pm M - F or M,T,Th,F though are fairly flexible on hours and days for the perfect candidate.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
At Home (Milford CT)
- Laundry -- wash, dry, fold and put away
- Weekly light cleaning : vacuuming, mopping, dishes and dishwasher
- Tidy the home – put away items after the morning school rush
- Fridge clean-out and restocking
- Grocery shopping and Costco runs, including putting everything away in the proper place
- Meal prep -- you must be able to follow a recipe and cook with confidence
- Making all beds; washing sheets weekly
- Making kids' lunches
- Watering plants
- Vacuuming out cars
- Seasonal kids' clothing audit (right sizes in the right rooms, pile for Goodwill)
- Organizing household overstock and supplies
- Returns
AirBnB (Milford CT)
- Managing the Airbnb calendar and anticipating turnover timing so nothing gets missed
- Coordinating turnover -- stripping beds, bringing linens to our home, washing and returning them (the Airbnb is professionally cleaned; )
Studio Support (Milford CT)
- Local errands: FedEx, Tile America, supplier pickups and vendor runs
- Client home visits when something needs to be dropped off or collected
- Prepping the studio before client meetings -- coffee & drinks (10-15/year)
- Mailing out client Welcome Gifts as needed (10-15/year)
- Organizing the sample library (a couple of times per year)
- Proactively labeling deliveries and organizing them in the on-site storage trailer (you’ll have access to the order tracker that articulates these details)
- General studio support as needed
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Local to Milford and the surrounding areas -- this is non-negotiable
- Reliable car and clean driving record (mileage reimbursed at the IRS rate)
- Comfortable being in a private home and treating it with discretion
- Can cook confidently – we have a recipe binder you can use but need to ensure you know how to cook
- Efficient by nature. If you are making returns on Friday, that day should also be the grocery run
- Calm and professional when representing the studio at a client home or job site
- Takes initiative and communicates proactively
- Comfortable completing a background check and drug test prior to starting
