Full Job Description

The United Methodist Church of Clinton CT is seeking an administrative assistant to manage our office, interact with church members and the public, prepare materials for weekly worship services, etc. We are a small, friendly church, and the candidate would be warmly received and supported.

Located near Clinton center and Long Island Sound, the church has a vibrant ministry. Our faith community has been a vital religious presence at the heart of this town for nearly 200 years.

Anticipated hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to Noon

Interested candidates should provide a resume and two letters of recommendation.

PART TIME: 15-20 hours per week ($20.00/hour)

HOURS: 9am to 12pm Monday through Friday (Hours subject to increase during the fall & winter months)

Qualifications:

Friendly, hospitable and welcoming, with good telephone manners and ability to make visitors feel welcome.
Capable of handling and maintaining highly confidential material in a discreet and trustworthy manner.
Capable and willing to set healthy boundaries between laity and staff in a positive manner.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software with strong troubleshooting and office equipment operation skills.
A self-starter, capable of taking initiative, organizing tasks, and working with and without supervision.
Able to supervise office volunteers, work with other staff members and with laity.
Able to organize and keep accurate files and records.
Excellent grammatical, writing, and spelling skills, with ability to edit others’ work.

Duties:

Communicate with the general public and the church members.
Create and send out bulletins with weekly messages to church members
Supervise volunteer teams in the office
Oversees mailings and record-keeping
Order office & church supplies
Provide administrative support to our Pastor and, as time allows to other members of the staff and church.
Keep calendar of church meetings/events and of outside groups using the building (Example: Tops, AA, WIC).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
