Full Job Description

The New York Athletic Club (NYAC), one of the world's premier private clubs, is seeking a part-time Licensed Massage Therapist to join our Wellness & Recovery team. This role is ideal for a motivated, service-driven professional who values excellence, consistency, and collaboration in a private club setting.

Our Massage Therapists play a key role in supporting Member recovery, performance, and overall well-being while delivering an elevated, hospitality-focused experience.

Position Overview

Status: Part-Time
Compensation: Hourly base rate plus commission and gratuity per massage session
Schedule: Flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends as required

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Service Delivery

Provide high-quality massage therapy services tailored to Member needs, including relaxation, recovery, and performance-focused treatments
Maintain professionalism, discretion, and service excellence in all member interactions
Support special events and promotional initiatives through chair massage demonstrations to build awareness and grow massage practice

Treatment Room Setup & Maintenance

Prepare treatment rooms prior to each session, including:
Proper linen setup and turnover
Amenity preparation and restocking
Ensuring rooms are clean, organized, and presentation-ready at all times
Maintain a running inventory of supplies and communicate supply needs to management in a timely manner

Scheduling, Booking & Transactions

Book massage appointments and manage schedules using Club systems
Open and close service tickets accurately and efficiently
Assist with basic front-of-house duties when needed, including:
Answering phone calls
Greeting members
Responding to basic service inquiries

Collaboration & Integration

Work collaboratively with Personal Trainers and Fitness Staff to align massage therapy with member training programs and recovery goals
Communicate effectively with managers regarding scheduling, supply needs, and member feedback

Qualifications

Valid New York State Massage Therapy License (required)
Prior experience in a spa, wellness center, athletic, or luxury hospitality environment preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Professional, polished demeanor aligned with a private club culture
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment
