Payroll Compliance Auditor

We are seeking a detail oriented professional to join our team at Daniel A. Winters & Company. This is an excellent opportunity for recent accounting graduates and professionals with related experience who are interested in pursuing a career in auditing. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience working with payroll and accounting and a goal to work in auditing.

This position plays an important role in assisting thousands of individuals by protecting their benefits and ensuring the accuracy of the contributions paid for them into their employee benefit plans. The primary responsibility is to conduct audits that are accurate, thorough, and completed in a timely professional manner.

Responsibilities:

· Perform compliance audits to ensure accurate contributions are paid to labor union benefit plans.

· Maintain a high level understanding of Employer-Union Benefit obligations under various collective bargaining agreements.

· Perform audits either remotely using email and IT tools or at employers’ locations, including potential travel outside the tri-state area.

· Compare payroll data and documentation to employee benefit plan data and reports to confirm correct contributions.

· Work directly with personnel at employers and employee benefit plans, maintaining a professional level of communication, often with technical topics.

· Prepare detailed analyses in MS Excel for exceptions identified, communicate them to appropriate representatives and address and resolve explanations and responses.

· Prepare detailed reports using MS Excel and MS Word.

· Maintain professional demeanor and work proficiency.

Qualifications:

· Associates Degree in Accounting or similar is required, Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar studies is preferred.

· One year experience with payroll and accounting is required.

· Experience with payroll auditing is a plus.

· Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills, including expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word and IT proficiency.

· Prioritization, time management, and initiative are key skills required for this role.

Software applications are all best of class including CCH Engagement electronic workpapers, CCH Tax, IDEA data analysis software, and Microsoft Office.

The firm’s principal offices are in Chadds Ford, PA in the southeastern corner of Pennsylvania, between Wilmington, DE and West Chester, PA. We serve clients in various geographic locations including the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area. Because we are located outside of the city limits of Philadelphia, our employees who work in our offices are not subject to the City of Philadelphia Wage Tax when work is performed in our offices.
