About Us

Kahen Properties is a New York City–based real estate management and development company overseeing a residential portfolio with an active development pipeline. We manage our properties with a hands-on, detail-oriented approach and are looking for a motivated Assistant Property Manager to support our operations team.

Position Overview

The Assistant Property Manager will support the day-to-day management of a portfolio of residential (and select commercial) properties. This role works closely with the Property Manager and ownership on leasing, tenant relations, maintenance coordination, compliance, and financial reporting. It's an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to grow within a well-established, active NYC real estate firm.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a point of contact for tenant inquiries, requests, and complaints, ensuring timely and professional resolution
Coordinate maintenance and repair work with in-house staff and outside vendors; track work orders through completion
Support leasing activity including showings, application processing, lease preparation, and renewals
Assist with rent collection, arrears tracking, and follow-up
Maintain accurate tenant, lease, and property records in property management software (Yardi experience a plus)
Help ensure compliance with NYC and NYS housing regulations, including rent stabilization (DHCR), Local Laws, and DOB/HPD requirements
Prepare and review reports, notices, and routine correspondence
Conduct periodic property inspections and follow up on violations or deficiencies
Support the Property Manager and ownership on special projects as needed

Qualifications

Minimum 1–3 years of experience in residential property management or a related real estate role
Familiarity with NYC housing regulations and compliance strongly preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with Yardi or similar property management software a plus
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Professional demeanor and strong customer-service orientation

Preferred

Bachelor's degree
Knowledge of rent stabilization, Good Cause Eviction, and NYC compliance frameworks
Bilingual a plus

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
