Office Manager

Location: Gainesville, FL
Pay: $22.00–$24.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

A respected, locally owned funeral-services organization in Gainesville is seeking a dependable and professional Office Manager to lead a three-person administrative team.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong integrity, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through. The Office Manager will organize the administrative team’s workload, assign responsibilities, monitor completion, and hold employees accountable while helping maintain a compassionate and professional office environment.

Because this position supports individuals and families during sensitive circumstances, discretion, professionalism, and excellent written communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Supervise and provide daily direction to three administrative employees
Assign tasks, establish priorities, and follow up to ensure work is completed accurately and on time
Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable
Coordinate daily office activities and administrative workflows
Draft, edit, and proofread professional correspondence
Assist with writing and formatting obituaries and other materials
Maintain organized and confidential records
Communicate professionally and compassionately with families, colleagues, and outside contacts
Create or edit printed and digital materials as needed
Identify administrative issues and follow through until they are resolved

Qualifications

At least two to three years of office management or administrative supervisory experience
Demonstrated experience assigning work and holding employees accountable
Excellent dependability, integrity, and discretion
Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and grammar skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Professional and compassionate communication style
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
Canva or similar design experience is preferred

Additional Requirement

Finalists should be prepared to provide two or three professional references who can speak to their supervisory experience, dependability, integrity, and job performance.
