Director of Supply Chain, Operations & Logistics Position Summary:
The Director of Supply Chain, Operations & Logistics is accountable for ensuring the right product is available, in the right quantity, at the right place, at the right time, while optimizing inventory investment, maintaining regulatory compliance, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
This executive-level leadership role is responsible for the end-to-end supply chain, overseeing the flow of materials and finished goods from suppliers through contract manufacturing partners to customers. The Director leads procurement, strategic sourcing, demand planning, inventory management, manufacturing coordination, logistics, warehouse operations, and customer fulfillment to ensure a reliable, efficient, and scalable supply chain.
A defining responsibility of this position is serving as the operational partner to both the Director of Scientific Innovation & Education and the Director of Finance & Controller. Working closely with the Director of Scientific Innovation & Education, the Director translates product formulation requirements into sourcing, purchasing, inventory planning, manufacturing, logistics, and fulfillment execution while ensuring product integrity, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted supply. In partnership with the Director of Finance & Controller, this role develops demand forecasts, inventory and procurement plans, and supply chain strategies that support the Company's financial objectives by optimizing working capital, inventory investment, gross margin, cash flow, and long-term growth. Together, these leaders evaluate the financial impact of operational decisions, support the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, and provide data-driven insights to executive leadership for strategic decision-making.
The Director also provides leadership for warehouse operations, inventory control, and customer fulfillment through a small team of warehouse and fulfillment associates. This position maintains oversight of warehouse performance, inventory accuracy, operational readiness, and continuous process improvement.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Director of Supply Chain, Operations & Logistics drives operational excellence by strengthening supplier partnerships, improving inventory performance, implementing scalable business processes, supporting NetSuite optimization, and building a resilient supply chain capable of supporting the Company's long-term growth objectives.

Primary Responsibilities
I. Supply Chain Strategy & Planning
Supply & Demand Planning
· Lead the company’s demand planning and inventory planning processes to ensure adequate inventory across all sales channels while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.
· Partner with the Director of Finance & Controller to develop rolling demand forecasts, inventory projections, and procurement plans using historical sales, customer demand, seasonality, promotions, and business growth projections that support the Company's annual operating plan and long-range financial objectives.
· Monitor inventory levels and establish replenishment strategies that support service level objectives.
· Lead the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process by collaborating with Sales/Marketing, Finance, Scientific Innovation, and Operations to align demand forecasts, inventory plans, production schedules, and procurement activities.
· Identify inventory risks and develop contingency plans to minimize supply disruptions.
· Evaluate the financial impact of inventory decisions, supplier strategies, manufacturing schedules, and logistics costs, balancing customer service objectives with profitability and working capital requirements.
· Provide data and operational insights supporting monthly financial forecasts, budgeting, inventory valuation, and cash flow planning.
· Partner with Finance to identify opportunities to improve gross margin through sourcing strategies, inventory optimization, freight management, and operational efficiencies.
Procurement & Strategic Sourcing
· Lead procurement activities for probiotic strains, ingredients, packaging materials, finished goods, and operational supplies.
· Manage all purchase order creation, placement, and execution, including probiotic strain purchase orders.
· Develop sourcing strategies that improve cost, quality, lead time, and supply continuity.
· Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard new suppliers while reducing supply chain risk through supplier diversification.
· Lead supplier negotiations related to pricing, contracts, service levels, and delivery performance.
· Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
Supplier Relationship Management
· Develop collaborative relationships with contract manufacturers, suppliers, logistics providers, and strategic business partners.
· Serve as the primary operational contact for suppliers, managing routine communications, delivery schedules, open orders, and issue resolution.
· Partner with the Scientific Innovation leader on supplier qualification, technical evaluations, ingredient integrity, quality concerns, and corrective actions.
· Conduct supplier performance reviews and periodic supplier audits as appropriate.
II. Scientific, Quality & Product Operations Partnership
Working closely with the Scientific Innovation leader, this position ensures that operational execution supports product quality, regulatory compliance, and successful commercialization.
Responsibilities include:
· Collaborate on forecasting requirements for probiotic strains and other critical ingredients to support manufacturing schedules.
· Develop procurement and inventory strategies for probiotic strains based on forecasted production requirements.
· Coordinate supply readiness for new product launches, reformulations, packaging updates, and product improvements.
· Manage open supplier orders and proactively resolve delivery issues, escalating quality or formulation concerns when appropriate.
· Support qualification and implementation of new suppliers in partnership with Scientific Innovation leadership.
· Perform operational review of labels, cartons, case labels, and packaging documentation after Scientific Innovation/Regulatory approval to ensure manufacturing readiness.
· Review Product Description Sheets for operational accuracy, including packaging specifications, manufacturing instructions, and order-specific information while the Director of Scientific Innovation and Education maintains ownership of formulation, testing, and regulatory content.
· Collaborate on implementation of FDA-compliant warehouse processes, documentation, inventory controls, and operational procedures.
· Serve as the operational liaison between Science, Quality, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and external manufacturing partners.
III. Manufacturing, Inventory & Logistics Management
· Coordinate production schedules with contract manufacturing partners to ensure timely product availability.
· Manage raw material deliveries and storage and outbound finished goods logistics.
· Coordinate domestic and international transportation activities.
· Oversee manufacturer shipment logistics and transfer orders.
· Monitor and manage warehouse and retail partner inventory replenishments and restocking requirements, to include transfer from off-site cold storage and shipping to retail partners (Amazon, Walmart, etc.).
· Monitor inventory accuracy and maintain appropriate inventory levels across all locations.
· Analyze inventory performance and implement initiatives to improve inventory turns while maintaining customer service levels.
· Develop contingency plans for supply interruptions and manufacturing constraints.
· Support ERP (NetSuite) optimization and ensure inventory transactions are accurate and timely.
IV. Warehouse Operations & Customer FulfillmentWarehouse Leadership
· Provide leadership and oversight for warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, shipping, returns, and facility organization.
· Supervise and develop warehouse and fulfillment personnel.
· Ensure warehouse activities are executed accurately, efficiently, and safely, to include OSHA compliance.
Customer Order Fulfillment
· Oversee order fulfillment processes to ensure accurate and timely shipment of all customer orders, to include preventing any penalties/fines from our retail partners.
· Monitor daily fulfillment performance and resolve shipping issues.
· Ensure customer service expectations and shipping commitments are consistently achieved.
Inventory Control
· Oversee receiving, incoming inspections, inventory transactions, lot traceability, cycle counts, and physical inventories.
· Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
· Ensure inventory accuracy within NetSuite and warehouse management processes.
Shipping & Distribution
· Manage relationships with parcel carriers, freight providers, and third-party logistics partners.
· Oversee Amazon, Walmart, retail customer, distributor, and direct-to-consumer shipping requirements.
· Ensure compliance with retailer routing guides, labeling requirements, and shipping specifications.
· Monitor shipping supply inventories and operational readiness.
Returns & Facility Management
· Oversee product returns, inventory disposition, and resolution of shipping-related customer issues.
· Coordinate warehouse equipment, environmental monitoring, and general facility operational needs.
· Support implementation of warehouse quality systems and FDA operational requirements.
V. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
· Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across procurement, inventory, supplier performance, warehouse operations, and customer fulfillment.
· Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen supply chain resilience.
· Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for supply chain and warehouse operations.
· Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing data analysis and process optimization.
· Develop operational dashboards and KPIs that integrate supply chain performance with financial metrics, enabling leadership to monitor inventory investment, supplier performance, service levels, gross margin, and cash flow.
· Support ongoing NetSuite enhancements and operational reporting improvements.
Leadership Responsibilities

Qualifications Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related discipline.
· 7+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics, inventory management, or operations leadership.
· Experience managing contract manufacturers and supplier relationships.
· Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
· Strong analytical, forecasting, inventory planning, and problem-solving skills.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
· Demonstrated experience leading process improvement initiatives.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Preferred:
· Experience in dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, food, consumer packaged goods (CPG), biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
· Experience collaborating with Scientific, Quality, Regulatory, or Product Development teams.
· Knowledge of FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), supplier qualification, and quality systems.
· Experience supporting Amazon, Walmart, EDI, and retail customer compliance.
· APICS CPIM, CSCP, CPSM, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar professional certification.
