Position: Part-Time After-School Program Leader
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM–6:00 PM
Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week

The King’s Kids Youth Development Center is a Christian youth development center committed to providing a safe, nurturing, educational, and encouraging environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.
Our after-school program provides children with academic support, tutoring, mentoring, enrichment activities, recreation, and hands-on learning through our Activity Labs.
Position Summary
The After-School Activity School Staff member will support children ages 5–12 during our after-school program from 2:30 PM–6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
We are seeking a dependable, energetic, patient, and caring individual who enjoys working with children and can serve as a positive mentor, tutor, role model, and activity leader.
This position will assist with homework support, enrichment activities, Activity Labs, volunteer support, and daily program operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage school-age children in a safe, structured, and positive environment.
- Provide homework assistance, tutoring, and academic encouragement.
- Build positive relationships with children and serve as a mentor and role model.
- Assist with TKK's Activity Labs, including STEM, LEGO/Building, Art, Music, Cooking, Dance, Media, and other enrichment activities.
- Help plan and facilitate creative, hands-on activities that promote learning, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Work with and support volunteers participating in Activity Labs and special programs.
- Help guide volunteers in appropriate engagement with children and activities.
- Lead and participate in games, recreational activities, enrichment projects, and special events.
- Assist with snack time, restroom routines, transitions, cleanup, and dismissal.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming activity environment.
- Communicate professionally with parents, staff, volunteers, and administration.
- Follow center policies, safety procedures, emergency procedures, and applicable Virginia licensing requirements.
- Support the Christian mission and values of The King’s Kids Youth Development Center.
- Perform other duties related to the after-school program as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, Associate Degree, or higher.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to work effectively and positively with school-age children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, punctual, patient, energetic, and professional.
- Ability to assist children with homework and basic academic support.
- Ability to mentor, encourage, and positively guide children.
- Comfortable leading or assisting with group activities.
- Able to work effectively with staff and volunteers.
- Comfortable working in a Christian, faith-based environment.
- Ability to meet applicable background-check, health, safety, and Virginia licensing requirements.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following is a plus:
- After-school programs
- Child care or summer camp
- Tutoring or academic support
- Mentoring or youth development
- Teaching or classroom assistance
- Recreation or coaching
- Church or children's ministry
- STEM, art, music, technology, cooking, dance, or LEGO/building activities
- Volunteer coordination or group leadership
