Sentara Heart Hospital is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Senior Echocardiographer.
Position Status:
Full Time, Days
8 hour shifts from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Call Required.
Position Location:
Norfolk, VA- Heart Hospital connected to Norfolk General Hospital
Hourly Range: $32.13-$53

Overview
The Senior Echocardiographer is responsible for performing and analyzing advanced echocardiographic procedures, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography, to assess cardiac function and pathology. They collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to provide accurate diagnostic information, mentor junior staff, and ensure the highest standards of patient care. The role requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of echocardiographic techniques, equipment, and industry standards while adhering to safety protocols and ethical guidelines. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for training staff, managing schedules, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Performs two-dimensional echocardiograms, Doppler echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiograms to evaluate heart and vessel abnormalities for the evaluation of heart disease and blood flow abnormalities. Completes the technologist report in the structured report application. Provides leadership to support department with respect to staffing schedule, accreditation, staff education or other duties as defined by management. Supports Cardiac Operating Room Echocardiogram needs.
Unit has 5 rooms for Echos. Echocardiographer will perform Echo and Stress Echo tests, Transesophageal (TEE) Echocardiogram, and Doppler ultrasound. Echocardiographer will work in Cardiac Non-Invasive Lab, EP and Cath Lab, OR, ICU and will also work with patients at the bedside.
Education

Graduate of an accredited echocardiography program (or equivalent education) in accordance with IAC Guidelines (required)

Associate Level Degree (required)
Certification/Licensure

Must have at least one of the four certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Cardiac Sonographer, or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer

BLS (Required within 90 days)
Experience

Echocardiographer experience (3 years minimum required)
