Full Job Description

A DSP will engage the people served in activities such as swimming, bowling, plays, movies, music concerts, library activities, volunteerism with Meals on Wheels, training, role modeling, and providing them with diverse, person-centered support, allowing them every opportunity available as they live their best lives.

Job Overview
NPOC is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our team. In this role, a DSP will provide essential support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Supporting them to achieve their personal goals and enhance their quality of life in all aspects. As a DSP, you will work closely with the people in continuous and intermittent residential, and day service settings, ensuring their needs are met while promoting independence and dignity.

NPOC Day Service Sites Include:

Ø Thrift Store

Ø Copy Center

Ø Sensory Site and Craft/Wood Working Site

Ø Adult Day - Retirement Club

Ø Training Center Hub

Day Services are a very active type of support services. A DSP will engage the people served in activities such as swimming, bowling, plays, movies, music concerts, utilizing library activities, volunteerism with Meals on Wheels, training, role modeling, and providing them with diverse, person-centered support, allowing them every opportunity available as they live their best lives. A DSP will provide the necessary support as the person experiences numerous community outings in surrounding areas, including Ogallala.

Residential Services will be provided in one of eight NPOC group homes. The home settings include 1-7 people in each home which require 24-hour support. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in a residential setting, you will provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with daily living activities, personal care, and skill development. Key duties include assisting with hygiene, medication, meal preparation, and housekeeping, while also promoting independence, community integration, and adherence to individualized care plans.

Responsibilities

Support people with various community and volunteer activities
Support with daily living activities, including personal care and hygiene.
Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate medication records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Teach, support, and prepare nutritious meals with and for the person with meal planning to promote healthy eating habits while understanding and applying physician-ordered nutrition programs and restrictions.
Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to enhance their social and emotional well-being.
Allowing each person to have the dignity of risk, providing them opportunities they are interested in, even when it may put them at risk, for example; horseback riding.
Supporting each person to maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light to moderate housekeeping duties at the Residential and Day Service Sites.
Complete daily electronic documentation of the person’s progress.
Reporting any changes in behavior or health status to the appropriate personnel.
Support people with living out their dreams, meeting their goals, and planning for their future goals.
Supporting people as they experience agency and personal centered short and long trips, vacations, family visits and shopping inside and outside of Nebraska.
Providing person-centered services that meet each person where they are and support them in increasing their skills and reaching their personal goals.

Qualifications

Previous experience in working with adults or children with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of medication administration procedures and the ability to follow care plans effectively.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality and privacy.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
Must possess the ability to utilize web-based programs, use applications on a smartphone and

Flexibility and willingness to work with differing personalities and support needs.

NPOC offers exceptional employee benefits for all employees who maintain Full-Time Status of a minimum of 36 hour weekly, once the required number of days employed are met.

The majority of the premiums for these benefits is paid by NPOC for the employee unless noted otherwise:

v NPOC is a qualifying non-profit agency for the anyone who currently has Federal Student Loans, are current on their payments, signed up for Income Driven Repayment Plan and meets the other Federal eligibility criteria.

v **NEW** Hours worked at NPOC now considered as qualifying CNA hours.

v Income tax credits will apply for the 2026 tax year, for working as a Direct Support Professional.

v Discounts on NPOC building rentals and design creation at the Copy Center is provided for all employees.
