Full Job Description

Overview

Think Play LLC is hiring compassionate and dependable School Shadows / 1:1 Support Aides to provide individualized academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support within a school setting. In this role, you will support a child in accessing classroom activities, fostering meaningful peer interactions, and building independence. You’ll work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to create a supportive and consistent learning environment that helps each child thrive.

Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one developmental support in school, home, and community settings using Think Play’s relationship-based, child-centered approach.
Foster emotional regulation, flexible thinking, executive functioning, social communication, and problem-solving through naturally occurring interactions and play.
Support children in navigating classroom routines, transitions, peer interactions, and unexpected challenges while promoting increasing independence.
Scaffold participation rather than completing tasks for the child, gradually reducing support as developmental skills emerge.
Facilitate positive peer interactions by coaching reciprocal communication, perspective taking, conflict resolution, and cooperative play.
Observe children’s developmental strengths and areas of challenge, adjusting support in real time based on their individual needs.
Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, therapists, and other professionals to ensure consistency across environments.
Maintain professional communication with families through session notes, progress updates, and ongoing collaboration.
Collect objective observations to help inform treatment planning and monitor developmental progress.
Implement individualized therapeutic strategies developed by Think Play while maintaining flexibility to meet each child’s changing needs.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice at all times in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.
Participate in weekly supervision, ongoing professional development, and continuing education to strengthen clinical knowledge and intervention skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

Experience working with young children in educational, therapeutic, recreational, or community-based settings.
Experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, developmental delays, sensory processing differences, anxiety, or other neurodevelopmental differences.
Understanding of child development, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and social-emotional learning.
Ability to think developmentally and identify the “why” behind behavior rather than relying solely on behavior management strategies.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent observation, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Ability to remain calm, flexible, and creative while responding to the changing needs of children throughout the day.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Child Development, Education, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Recreation Therapy, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.
