Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial software, and compliance standards such as SOX and GAAP. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the accurate processing of vendor invoices, maintain financial records, and support overall accounting functions within a dynamic organization. Prior experience with various accounting systems and a solid understanding of bookkeeping and payroll management are essential for success in this position.

Duties

Process and verify accounts payable transactions using accounting software such as Workday, SAP, or Sage.
Ensure timely and accurate data entry of invoices, expense reports, and payment requests.
Reconcile accounts payable ledger by verifying entries and comparing system reports with supplier statements.
Prepare journal entries related to accounts payable activities and assist with general ledger reconciliation.
Maintain compliance with internal controls, SOX regulations, and company policies.
Assist in month-end closing processes, including accruals and account analysis.
Support accounts receivable functions as needed, including invoice processing and collections follow-up.
Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments to resolve discrepancies or payment issues.
Assist with benefits administration, payroll processing, and HRIS data management when required.
Contribute to process improvements for efficiency in accounts payable workflows.

Qualifications

Proven experience in accounts payable, general ledger accounting, or related financial roles.
Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial concepts such as debits & credits and double entry bookkeeping.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Workday, Paychex, QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, UltiPro, ADP, Kronos, Sage, Ceridian, or similar platforms.
Experience with payroll management systems like ADP or Kronos is preferred.
Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail; ability to perform account reconciliation and journal entries accurately.
Familiarity with tax regulations and benefits administration processes is advantageous.
Strong data entry skills including 10 key typing; ability to handle high-volume transactions efficiently.
Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and external vendors.
