Utilities Foreman
The DPW Utilities department is accepting applications for the position of Utilities Foreman. Under the direction of the Manager of Construction & Utilities, the Utilities Foreman will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of both water distribution systems and sewer collection systems, including supervising a crew of workers, managing projects, ensuring safety compliance, and coordinating with other departments to maintain the functionality of a municipality's water and sewer infrastructure; often requiring knowledge of plumbing, construction practices, and relevant regulations.
Position Overview:
· Leads and directs digging trenches, installing pipes, repairing leaks, cleaning sewer lines, and maintaining pump stations as needed.
· Ensures compliance with and educates on all applicable federal, state and Town laws, ordinances and regulations.
· Obtains necessary permits for construction and repair activities.
· Answers calls from customers asking for information about water and sewer systems.
· Enters data into town records.
· Maintains detailed records of work performed, repairs completed, and materials used.
· Research new technology that assists with daily operations.
· Makes timely and cost-effective decisions on job sites when problems arise.
· Manages emergency situations by redirecting the work of the crews.
· Enforces safety protocol, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment.
· Responds to urgent situations like major leaks or sewer backups outside of regular work hours. (On-Call Tri-weekly)
· Comprehensive understanding of water distribution systems, sewer collection systems, plumbing principles, and related construction practices.
· Ability to effectively manage a team, delegate tasks, and motivate employees.

Qualifications & Experience:
· High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
· Minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction management and utilities maintenance preferred.
· Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience.
· Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the essential job functions of this position.
Licenses and Certifications:
· A valid driver’s license
· Certification as a Certified Construction Manager by the Construction Management Association of America (CMMA) is highly preferred.
· D1 Water Certification or ability to obtain certification within one (1) year of hire.
Salary is $70,000 - $75,000 / year
