A leading manufacturer of custom automated machinery is seeking a Field Service Controls Programmer to support customers and automated equipment throughout the United States.
This is a remote, home-based controls engineering position with significant travel. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Schneider Electric PacDrive 3, CODESYS, PLC programming, HMI programming, and servo motion control and is comfortable troubleshooting and commissioning automated machinery in the field.
The position involves approximately 30 weeks of travel per year, with paid overtime providing the opportunity to earn an additional $20,000–$40,000+ annually.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, motion control, and automation systems remotely and onsite
- Develop, modify, test, and implement CODESYS PLC and HMI software
- Program and troubleshoot Schneider Electric PacDrive 3 control systems
- Program and troubleshoot servo motion control systems
- Commission new machinery and support equipment startups
- Diagnose electrical, controls, software, and automation issues in the field
- Integrate automation technologies including robotics, vision systems, lasers, and other machine subsystems
- Provide production support and technical troubleshooting for customers
- Provide customer training and technical support
- Maintain software and technical documentation in accordance with GMP guidelines
- Travel throughout the U.S., approximately 30 weeks per year
Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, PLC programming, or a related field
- Hands-on experience programming Schneider Electric PacDrive 3
- Experience with CODESYS and IEC 61131-3 programming
- Experience programming and troubleshooting servo motion control
- Strong PLC, HMI, and controls troubleshooting skills
- Ability to diagnose and resolve automation issues independently
- Strong customer-facing communication and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Controls Engineering, or equivalent technical experience
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States

Compensation & Benefits
