Full Job Description

Tapper’s Jewelry is currently searching for a full-time Estate Buyer, working in our corporate headquarters in our West Bloomfield location.

Tapper’s Jewelry has a great reputation for providing exceptional customer service for over 45 and was named one of the Top Work Places of 2023 by the Detroit Free Press. We have locations in West Bloomfield, Novi and Troy, Michigan. Estate Buyer Responsibilities Include:

Portraying a positive image of Tapper’s to our associates, the community and our industry at all times
Exhibiting professional appearance, behavior and effective communication skills
Scheduling appointments with clients for in-person estate buys
Ability to interface with a broad range of individuals within our company, clientele and industry
Providing service to the customer both in the showroom and at the repair counter as traffic needed
Additional tasks that may be required by the management team
Developing and implementing a profitable program to include the purchasing of customer owned precious stone and metal goods
Researching best methods to cultivate business
Tracking purchases of customer owned goods to better understand opportunities for growth and increased profitability
Communicating with manager weekly; providing updates of program implementation
Pricing estate jewelry
Interacting with customers to purchase
Estate buying shows
Managing our estate inventory
Buying and testing gold
Identifying, sorting and grading diamonds

Experience and education requirements:

Graduate Gemologist (GIA) degree preferred
3 to 5 years of sales experience within the guild of independent luxury jewelry and watch industry
Proven and demonstrable organizational skills and attention to detail
A passion for jewelry
Creative problem solving ability
Highly effective interpersonal skills
College degree preferred
