Job Description:

Schedule: Full Time
Shift: Days with Call requirements
-
Prepares sterile dressings and clean instruments for terminal sterilization.
-
Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
-
Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
-
Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
-
Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
-
Obtains scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
-
Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
-
Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
-
Gowns and gloves the surgeon and assistants.
-
Assists in draping the sterile field.
-
Passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the procedure.
-
Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Interpersonal Skills [Required]

Completion of validation skills [Required]

Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up [Required]

Laser skills/training [Required]

Able to precept and act as resource person and preceptor in multiple surgical specialties [Preferred]

Minimum of one year scrub experience in a multi-disciplinary surgical service [Required]

Demonstrated specialization in one or more surgical areas as determined by Director [Required]

Proficient in the English language [Required]

Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia, surgical site infection prevention, emergency code cart, high and low level disinfection, clinical alarms, medication management, isolation precautions, surgical care of patients age (0-100+), fire safety, AIDET, and SBAR [Required]

Proficient in a minimum of 3 major surgical specialties [Preferred]
Education:

High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Technical/Vocational School [Required]

Associate [Preferred]
Work Experience:

1+ years of experience as certified surgical tech required
Licenses and Certifications:

Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]

State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR Technician in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) [Required]
