Omaha, NE
As a proudly independent, family-owned company with more than 75 years of industry leadership, Malnove is committed to creating an environment where people grow, teams thrive, and operational excellence is achieved every day.
We are currently seeking a Production Planner to help coordinate the materials and information needed to keep our manufacturing operations moving efficiently. This role is ideal for an organized, analytical professional who enjoys managing multiple priorities, anticipating needs, and solving problems before they impact production.
The Production Planner serves as an important connection between Customer Service, Purchasing, Production, suppliers, and inventory — ensuring paperboard and other critical materials are available when needed and manufacturing orders are ready to move into production.
What You'll Do
- Plan and coordinate paperboard requirements by reviewing customer orders, assigning available board, creating purchase orders, and partnering with Purchasing on timing and material needs.
- Monitor incoming materials and inventory levels, allocating paperboard based on production priorities and releasing material from outside warehouses when needed.
- Ensure production materials are ready when needed by finishing materials with suppliers and internal partners.
- Review and release manufacturing orders to ensure accurate material information, appropriate instructions, and timely availability for production.
- Anticipate and resolve material-related production issues by partnering with Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, and plant leadership to identify practical solutions.
- Monitor raw material inventory and aging to support appropriate inventory levels, minimize excess materials, and stay within established company targets.
- Coordinate with suppliers and Purchasing on material or quality concerns, helping drive timely resolution and prevent production disruptions.
- Maintain accurate planning records and documentation while supporting additional production planning and scheduling activities as business needs evolve.
What Sets You Apart
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and changing production needs.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate material needs and identify potential problems before they impact production.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including knowing when to resolve an issue independently and when additional support is needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across departments and with external suppliers.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate orders, inventory information, and documentation.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities can shift throughout the day.
- Strong systems aptitude and ability to learn job-specific planning and manufacturing software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, includingExcel, Outlook, and Word.
- A collaborative, customer-focused approach with strong follow-through and ownership.
Experience and Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum one year of experience in the folding carton or similar industry preferred.
