If our mission statement piques your interest, we encourage you to apply for the currently open position of Fraud Investigator to work Monday - Friday at our Ogden Branch located at 2605 Washington Blvd, Ogden, UT. The Fraud Investigator is responsible for detecting, investigating, and preventing fraudulent activity across bank products and services. This role analyzes data to identify suspicious patterns to mitigates financial loss in order to protect clients and the institution. The position requires strong analytical ability, sound judgment, and a working understanding of banking regulations and financial‑crime statutes. The Fraud Analyst conducts independent investigations, performs interviews, and communicates findings to internal partners, external agencies, and, when necessary, the courts.
As a subject matter expert, the Fraud Analyst stays current on fraud trends, schemes, and prevention techniques, and may assist in training bank staff and educating members of the public on common fraud risks. A motivated and driven mindset is essential to proactively protect the bank, its customers, and its reputation from fraudulent activity.
Analyzes suspicious transactions and associated account histories to identify money laundering or other suspicious/non-compliant behavior. Alerts management and institutional AML, Fraud, or Compliance committees of transactions and accounts that warrant further review; assists in investigations and preparation of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs). Ensures compliance with associated regulations or legislation, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the USA PATRIOT Act.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- 4+ years of investigative experience (financial services or fraud-related experience preferred)
- Proficient with fraud case management systems and secure communication protocols
- Ability to read and interpret procedures, alerts, and fraud indicators
- Strong sense of urgency and accountability
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document investigations clearly, professionally and with integrity. This position requires interfacing with various departments within the organization, Senior Management, members of the public, Law Enforcement Agencies, and may require court testimony during legal proceedings
- Empathy and professionalism when supporting clients impacted by fraud
Regular Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret and apply BSA/AML, fraud, and regulatory requirements to business processes, system enhancements, and operational workflows.
- Analyze fraud vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Monitor customer accounts and transactional activity to detect potential fraud, suspicious behavior, or policy violations
- Conduct thorough investigations into suspected fraudulent activity, including reviewing account history, documentation, and transactional data
- Prepare clear, accurate, and well-documented case notes, reports, and investigative summaries
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Risk, Compliance, BSA, Operations, and Customer Service to resolve fraud cases efficiently
- Support audits, regulatory exams, and internal reviews by preparing documentation, data, and process explanations.
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to management and other stakeholders
- Stay current on emerging fraud trends, typologies, and regulatory requirements
- Support loss prevention efforts and recommend process improvements to reduce fraud risk
- Be a subject matter expert and train staff on identified fraud trends
- Provide fraud awareness presentations to members of the public and vulnerable groups
- Database tracking and trend analysis
- Other duties as assigned
