Full Job Description

Sewing Machine Operator

Professional's Choice Sports Medicine is hiring for skilled Sewing Machine Operator(s) with a minimum of one year experience. We are a manufacturer of equine (horse) products. Your job may entail sewing cinches, boots, saddle pads and other equine products. Must be able to use the following heavy duty machines: zigzag, single stitch and tacking. All machines are industrial machines. You’ll ensure efficient running of production. Operator(s) will need to be reliable, possess ability to work with attention to detail and follow safety standards. On-the-job training is a good way to discover how to do the job better, so you should have willingness to learn and improve. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers. The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits.

Responsibilities

Set up machines to start a production cycle
Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed) as needed
Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines
Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
Test operation of machines periodically
Fix issues that might occur during the shift
Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
Ensure quality control standards are met

Skills

Proven experience as an industrial sewing machine operator
Understanding of production sewing procedures
Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
Attention to detail
Teamwork and communication skills
Physical stamina and strength
Must read/write in English or Spanish
Must dress appropriately for safety conditions in a working warehouse.
