Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Stepdown unit during night shifts. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and intervention, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced hospital environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in critical care, excellent clinical judgment, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare setting, supporting patient recovery and well-being through expert nursing practices.

Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the PCU/Stepdown unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
Monitor vital signs, interpret physiological data, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions and medication injections, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
Perform advanced procedures such as catheterization, wound suturing, and ventilator management as required.
Document patient information meticulously using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and case managers to coordinate effective patient care.
Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, medication regimens, and post-discharge instructions.
Maintain infection control standards and ensure adherence to hospital policies for sterile processing and aseptic techniques.
Assist with emergency response procedures including trauma medicine protocols and acute pain management.
Support discharge planning efforts by assessing patient needs for post-hospital care or long-term support services.

Qualifications

Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice.
Minimum of two years of critical care experience in hospital settings such as ICU or Level I/II Trauma Centers.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner; experience with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is preferred.
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to acute care environments.
Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring hospice & palliative medicine.
Demonstrated skills in IV insertion, venipuncture, tube feeding management, and airway management.
Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and respond effectively to emergencies.
Knowledge of infection control practices and OSHA standards related to sterile processing and aseptic technique.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
