Full Job Description

Overview

Join a premier cataract and refractive ophthalmology practice dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and outstanding surgical outcomes with the latest technology. We are seeking a motivated Ophthalmic Technician to work alongside a seasoned, highly respected Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgeon in a boutique, physician owned practice.

This is an outstanding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about medicine, patient care, and ophthalmology. We strongly encourage applications from Chinese-speaking and/or Spanish-speaking candidates, as the ability to communicate with our diverse patient population is highly valued. Premedical and pre-health students are especially welcome and will benefit from meaningful clinical exposure, mentorship, and opportunities to participate in research.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive ophthalmic workups, including:
Visual acuity testing
Refraction (preferred but willing to train motivated candidates)
Intraocular pressure measurement
Pupillary assessment
Extraocular motility testing
Automated and manual diagnostic testing
Obtain and document detailed medical and ocular histories.
Prepare patients for examination and assist the physician during clinic visits.
Perform ophthalmic imaging, including OCT, corneal topography, biometry, visual fields, fundus photography, and other diagnostic testing.
Educate patients regarding cataract surgery, refractive surgery, dry eye treatment, and postoperative care.
Maintain accurate electronic medical records and ensure efficient patient flow.
Prepare examination rooms, instruments, and equipment.
Collaborate with physicians and staff to provide an exceptional patient experience.
Assist with clinical research projects and data collection as opportunities arise.

Qualifications

High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
Previous ophthalmic experience is preferred but not required for highly motivated candidates with strong aptitude and interest in medicine.
Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) language skills are highly preferred.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment.
Professional, compassionate, and patient-centered attitude.
Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a collaborative team.
Interest in ophthalmology, surgery, or healthcare careers is strongly encouraged.
