Building Guard(s) (Front Desk) - Substitute

INITIAL ASSIGNMENT:

Orchard Park CSD - District Wide / 4.0 hrs - 8.0 hrs per shift / Cover am and pm shifts as needed

APPOINTMENT: September 2026

Job Description

Under supervision, a substitute in this position performs a variety of non-teaching duties requiring the exercise of good judgment and the ability to interact with the public. A Building Guard uses exceptional observation and decision-making skills to protect and secure the school environment by monitoring visitor activity and managing access to the building. There is a need to understand and use security technology and security/safety protocols, as well as the skills and ability to handle emergency situations. These professionals typically possess training in security.

Essential Responsibilities:

Monitor, authorize and manage entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft, vandalism and maintain security of the premises and its occupants.
Greets visitors to the building, ascertains their business, issues a pass and directs the individual to the proper location.
Notify administration, police or fire department in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons, or any perceived threat to the campus and its occupants.
Preserve order and protect property.
Ensure all main building and out-building doors and windows are secure at close of day.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Registration as a Security Guard by the State of New York, Department of State, Division of Licensing Services at the time of appointment.

HOURLY RATE: $21.33 per hour
